Introduction

It’s time your business was online.

It’s never been more vital to get your business online than right now! No matter what your business

is, your customers are online and looking for you. Your customers have changed. They’re not using

newspapers or directories to find businesses they need, they don’t take in roadside ads, are too

distracted to follow radio – they’re instead going online, often on their smart phones, and searching

in Google for answers to their problems.

If they don’t find you they will find your competitors.

Now it’s time to focus.

If you’re a real company doing real work in your local community you don’t need to care about

global internet marketing trends or the latest in social media. You want to keep it simple, keep it

local and keep it to what works! You need to spend your time focussing on your business.

Before you start this business blueprint – ask yourself this vital question.

Does what you’ve already got do the job for you? Does that pretty 5-page website you were sold

some time ago help your business? Probably not!

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 6

1. Find the customers – already

looking for you!

It doesn’t matter what kind of business you’re in. You could be a plumber, a florist and

driving instructor, an electrician, a gardener or run a salon. You could be a solicitor, dentist

or financial advisor – you all share the same pain. In any economy, it’s hard to find new

clients.

I have a surprising message for you! You Don’t Need To Find New Customers!

Instead you need to be found by those who are looking for you right now!

They already want your goods and services they just can’t find you and they’re looking for

you in your local area! Probably within 5-10 miles of your business.

Think about it for a moment. The last time you wanted say a plumber, electrician, dentist,

solicitor, gardener, caterer or electrician what did you do?

Did you turn to yellow pages?

Did you try and remember that roadside advert?

Did you search through the local papers hoping to find the right one with the right advert in

it?

Did you keep the radio or TV on in case you happened to hear an appropriate advert?

No! Of course not.

You got on your computer or smartphone and looked online. You searched on

Google. That’s exactly what your customers are doing right now!

The technical term for what needs to be done is called keyword research. It’s hard and time

consuming and the most hated part of trying to market online. When I developed this

blueprint I wanted to make it simple and easy and yet powerful enough to deliver results.

Here’s how I approach it….

Page 7: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 7

1. You supply search words

I want you to think like a customer and send me a list of words that they could to search for what

you do. So it’s driving lessons or learn to drive and not your company name. It’s divided into three

types of words to help you think.

1. Enter the services that you offer as a customer is likely to enter them. In this example, I entered

driving lessons and learn to drive. You can enter up to 7.

2. Enter your roles as a potential customer may see you. I entered driving instructor and both

driving school and driving schools. You can enter up to 7. Entering plurals often works well.

3. Enter your location.

2. I’d use my exclusive software to find out how many real potential customers are

looking for your goods or services right now within about 5-10 miles of your business!

The results screen soon appears.

There’s a little more to it but you can see that’s hundreds, maybe thousands of people

looking for what you do in your area!

These numbers are not huge because they are so targeted. They will only be entered by

people looking for your services in your local area.

The key thing is to get inside the head of your potential customer and enter services and

roles as they would. Their thoughts are often driven by a need so if you’re a plumber you

don’t just offer “bathroom installation” but also “fix leaks”.

Stop looking for new customers – get found by your potential customers already

looking for you! Look in the Free Profitable Website guide – or go to

http://www.freeprofitablewebsite.com to get a copy.

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 8

2. Be the one they find!

In the first step we discovered the best local terms to use to find customers that are already

looking for what you do! Step 2 is to make sure that they find you.

This is what usually happens…

Most businesses get offered a pretty 5 page website for a few hundred plus a monthly fee. These are

pretty and offer a huge selection of templates. They look good, they flatter egos, they’re also empty

shells. Often there is a bottleneck as business and website provider argues over who should provide

the content. The result is a website named after the company that does nothing to help your

business.

Instead you need a plan of action – so here it is.

1. Get a domain name that matches the best result of your keyword research from step 1. So if

you’re a plumber in Fort Worth and “plumber in Fort Worth” was the best result then

www.plumberinfortworth.com would be a great domain name. If you’re company name is say

Franklins Plumbers then why not combine the two to create

www.franklinsplumberinfortworth.com? This makes it more personal to you and makes it

extremely likely that the domain name will be available. You can register domains from your hosting

account (see below) or from companies like godaddy.com.

I handls this for you when you order a http://www.freeprofitablewebsite.com/ and supply you

with a list of possible domain names so you can register the one you want.

2. Build a website (and get it hosted).

Go to http://www.freeprofitablewebsite.com/ now (if you haven’t already).

3. Get a mobile version of your website

So many of your potential customers now use smartphones that it’s essential that you not only have

a website but also a mobile version of it. It’s amazing how bad some websites look on smartphones

and this gives the impression the company doesn’t care.

This can be make or break for a business as a potential customer could be within a mile and choose

to go elsewhere instead.

Page 9: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 9

The Gold version of http://www.freeprofitablewebsite.com automatically creates a mobile version

of the website.

4. Create a Facebook business page and Twitter account about your business

This is a no-brainer. Your customers use these

monsters of social networking and so should you.

These are included with the other top 7 social media sites in the Gold version of

http://www.freeprofitablewebsite.com/

5. Create a video about your business and post it on Youtube

Youtube is the second most popular search engine behind Google. If you’re on Google you need to

be on Youtube. The biggest problem is making videos that people want to watch! It’s not

uncommon for a business to spend good money on having a video created for them and then get

under 10 views in a year.

The Gold version includes the creation of a video about your business and posts it on Youtube.

6. Get a Google account – claim your piece of Google real estate

This plan works so well because you are working with Google rather than

against it or trying to somehow game the system. Google wants you to

provide relevant localised services that people are searching for you.

Google will even help you more than you can imagine by giving you some

prime Google real estate and then reward you by putting you right at the

top of the search engines. This is what I call the smart way to get to the

top of Google. The hard way is months of search engine optimisation that can fail when Google

releases its next version. Or you can try the expensive way and buy Google Adwords adverts. I

much prefer the smart way. However there are over 90 factors that Google uses to decide which

listing gets the top spots so this isn’t the easy option.

The Gold version includes the creation of a Google Places for business listing just the way Google

wants it.

7. Capture visitors to your website at any time day or night!

We all know how important “returning” customers are so it’s important to use a lead capture form

on your current website and optimize it so they are captured and frequently contacted with your

latest offers.

This is because websites can attract visitors that come and go and never return without you even

knowing. The secret is to capture these people and turn their interest into business.

The secret of this is to use a service called an auto responder. An auto responder is a software

service with which you can programme a series of messages that are then sent out automatically by

email.

A small form usually asking for just first name and email address is placed on your web page offering

the user something of value.

The auto responder makes sure that all anti-spam regulations are kept and so email providers trust

these messages so they get through to you. They can be sent at pre-set intervals such as every 3

days and it doesn’t matter if you send it to 10, or 100 or 1000!

The auto responder service is included for Gold websites and includes…

Consultancy to help create a free offer that will appeal to your customers

Creation of the message sequence (usually around 5 or 6 messages)

Monthly management of the account including the ability to send special offers to your list of

prospects.

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 11

3. Convince them you’re the expert In step 1 you found potential customers that were looking for you, in step 2 you make sure they

find you. You now must convince them that you are the answer to their problems. They don’t

know you and so you have to have the website content to convince them.

There are 5 questions that all visitors to all websites ask themselves. They may do it sub consciously

but they are still asking them.

The five questions are…

1. Can you solve my problem?

2. Will it work for me?

3. What’s in it for me (or what do I get)?

4. Why you? (Why should I trust you?)

5. What’s the next step?

Most people now search online for answers to their problems. They’ve moved from looking in

newspapers or looking to radio and TV for adverts. They search on Google and hope to find the

answers. You need website content in the shape of articles, videos, tips and testimonials to convince

them.

Let’s use a plumber as an example again. If you needed a plumber and found two in your area

which would you choose the one with a website that looked like a brochure or the one with video

tips for preventing plumbing disasters and testimonials from satisfied customers?

Creating such content for websites has always been a problem. The business owner is the only one

who truly knows about their business but doesn’t have the time, or perhaps the skills to write the

copy, choose the images and make the videos. Anyone who is hired lacks the knowledge about the

business.

Silver and Gold website owners get help and guidance to get this content created.

Page 12: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 12

4. Manage reviews In steps 1-3 you found your target market and created an online lead-generation machine to get

potential customers to call you.

All that effort can be wasted if you don’t carefully manage online reviews. With the massive 158%

growth in review sites and the trend for people to now use online to find what they need, your

customers are able to leave feedback for your potential future customers to read! Their opinions

can make or damage your business and it is crucial for businesses to manage it.

Let’s look at some figures…

51% of consumers use the Internet even before making a purchase in shops

61% of people rely on user reviews for product information or research before a buying

decision is made.

70% consult reviews or ratings before purchasing

75% of people don’t believe that companies tell the truth in advertisements

92% have more confidence in information found online than from a salesclerk or other

source

97% who made a purchase based on an online review found the review to be accurate

How big is this problem?

There is no one site that can be targeted with an online reputation management strategy, since

virtually any online social site or network has the ability for customers to leave feedback about

anything.

You can try and use one of these tools to track where reviews happen but this is both expensive and

a bit like spinning plates.

Getlisted.org

Reviewpush.com

Sweetiq.com

Locationmonitor.com

With such a huge number of sites it is almost impossible to fight fires on each site. A better way

must be found.

Page 13: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 13

Why Does This Matter?

You might think this isn’t important. Even if you were to get a bit of bad feedback online, you could

either let it blow over, or if you needed to you could try and redress the balance with some

discounts and marketing activity, right?

Dead wrong.

Various global trade bodies have researched this extensively, and they have found that reputation

management could not be more important.

Customers love reviews – what’s more they trust those reviews. In fact, 72% of consumers trust

online reviews as much as a personal recommendation!

52% say positive reviews make them more likely to use a local business

Google loves reviews – it loves customer interaction, social commenting and community and uses

this as factors to rank companies in the search results.

If you aren’t managing what people read about you online, then there is no point spending a

budget on raising the profile of your business if that profile is tarnished.

Introducing a Better Way

I’d like to briefly introduce our automated managed solution to these problems.

Yes automated!

The best way to explain is through a brief demonstration.

1. Either via a link (the sample feedback page is on this link

http://www.thebusinessreviews.com/demo/) or a QR code that

iPhone users just can’t help scanning you ask your customers to

leave feedback. This could be on a sign at reception, a printed

card left in the room or even added to the bill. This is the QR

Code for the sample page.

Simply by asking for feedback you will get a

lot more positive reviews.

The sample feedback page looks like this.

The design is deliberately clean and simple.

The user simply clicks on a star rating, enters

their name and email address and their

review.

Page 14: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 14

Wouldn’t you like to thank the people that are leaving good reviews and intercept the bad reviews

before they even get posted? That’s exactly what happens!

Depending on the star rating one of two emails (custom created for you) are sent to the customer.

Try it yourself!

If the rating is 3 stars or higher then the review is good so we send a thank you email that includes

their review and direct links of review sites to post them. This makes it so much easier to post good

reviews.

These links don’t work in the demo but they would link directly to the pages where they can simply

copy and paste their reviews.

You could also include a small incentive such as “show your review at reception for a 10% discount

on your next visit”, or a bottle of wine, or whatever you think will work for you.

But if the rating is just 1 or 2 stars then we need to intercept this bad review so we send them a

“sorry to hear you’re unhappy” email.

This simple gesture will stop most negative complaints especially if you include an apology, an offer

just for them and a chance to contact you directly to discuss it.

All this happens automatically but you’ll have full access to the system to check feedback so you can

easily find a complaint if someone contacts you directly and can change the content of the emails at

any time. The result will be more good reviews and less bad reviews that will all help promote your

business and reputation online!

Click here to order the The Business Reputation Management System and take control of your online

reviews or here to find out more!

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 15

5. Get more business from existing

clients Getting repeat business form existing clients should be part of any strategy and your online one is

no different.

Thanks to a neat little piece of technology called QR or “Quick Response” codes you can almost

instantaneously turn your customer’s mobile phone into a unique hand-held stage showcasing

whatever tantalizing offer you create to promote and sell your product or service.

Your customers will like the convenience of learning all about what you’ve got to offer to them while

staring into the palm of their hand. But if you are using QR codes correctly they will absolutely LOVE

when your QR code takes them directly to a page on your website that is relevant to the

advertisement that got them there in the first place.

QR codes can be put everywhere from shop windows to menus , receipts and bills and lead direct to

pages on your website with special offers or contact details.

As a BONUS Gold website owners get these 5 QR codes created for your business. Scanning them

….

Makes the user call you

Makes the user email you

Opens your reviews page

Opens your special offer page

And finally one transfers all your contact details to their phone!

Page 16: How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Stepsww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2013/07/11/10915489/How_To... · jewellers - job agencies - karaoke suppliers - laundrettes - life coaches - locksmiths

How To Do Online Business in 5 Easy Steps Page 16

Conclusion There is an expression in internet marketing that goes “wash, rinse, repeat”. That means if you find

something that works do it again and again. If you have more than one part of your business then

create the same online system for each part. A garage that did both auto repairs and car hire could

appeal to two distinct groups of customers.

I’m often asked if this will work with an existing website? Meaning one of those 5 page cookie cutter

template sites. When you’ve found customers looking for you, made sure that they found you,

convinced them that you’re the expert that can solve their problem why would you want to guide

them to an old website? Instead get them to phone or visit and buy!
