WHAT WILL I EARN IN RETIREMENT?

In most careers (Military and Civilian), there are certain mandatory expectations in order to progress upward (Promotion). For ANG:

1. Hit your AFSC skill level milestones (be aggressive and get it done!)2. PME (AFH 36-2618): ALS to E-5, NCOA to E-7, SNCOA to E-83. CCAF (AFI 36-2648): CCAF or equivalent for E-8 and/or E-9

Most important: NEVER leave pay and points on the table. Ensure you earn at least 20 satisfactory years of service. Attend every drill/AT and put deployments on your flight path. Rank, years of satisfactory service, and points matter.

SO IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, THIS PLACE IS A GRAVY TRAIN!!

Yes, there is work to do but that is life. As you can see, the more you progress the higher your monthly retirement check will be.

Keep in mind there are other benefits as well (medical, base gym access, etc.).

Everyone’s situation is unique but long range planning for retirement is crucial. Every dollar counts!

If you were a DSG who entered service at 18 and earned 32 good years retiring as an E-9 at age 50, in ten years you would start collecting $1,750.00 a month for life.

If you live to be 90 that equals $630,000.00. Hard to leave on the table.

If you are considering separating from the ANG please think about that.

P.S…and stay with the 181st your whole ANG career.
