How to apply for Voter ID Card online?

You can either apply for Voter ID Online or you can apply for Voter ID Offline. All Indian citizens have

a right to vote provided to meet some pre-requisite conditions which are the person should be a

citizen of India, the person should be above 18 years of age and should not be disqualified to be a

voter.

India is popularly known as the world largest democracy. After getting Independence in 1947, till

date various governments are formed by different political parties. During this period the population

of India has increased thrice. India is known for its vibrant economy. The Constitution of India has

given various fundamental rights which include right to equality, education, freedom of speech etc.

Along with these rights there include a democratic right called right to vote. Since India is not a

country which has constitutional monarchies like the Gulf, all Indian citizens have a right to vote

provided to meet some pre-requisite conditions. They are:-

  The person should be a citizen of India.  The person should be above 18 years of age.

  Not disqualified to be a voter. E.g. Not of unsound mind etc.

Each individual can give vote for a particular election only once. Once the vote given cannot be

changed and cannot be given again. For casting a vote one requires a Voter ID Card or Electors Photo

Identity Card (EPIC).

How to Apply for Voter ID Card?

You can either apply for Voter ID Online or you can apply for Voter ID Offline. For Online Voter ID

Card you need to follow few steps:-

(Note – The above example is given for applying for Voter ID Card in Delhi)

Firstly you need to Enrol with the Election Commission of India (ECI) which has a constitutional

status. ECI has divided the departments into various states and union territories. So there is Chief

Electoral Officer, Delhi who looks after the Voter ID Card issues in Delhi.

Online Method

  For Enrolment you need to fill the Form No. 6. You can download the form online. Link -

http://ceodelhi.gov.in/WriteReadData/Forms/FORM6.pdf  For this you need to login on the

CEO Delhi website. Link - http://ceodelhi.gov.in/OnlineErms/login.aspx . Register yourself if

you are a new user.

  After this, you need to upload a passport size colour photograph along with you documents

of proof like Proof or Residence (Driving Licence, Passport etc.) & Proof of Age (Driving

Licence, Birth Certificate etc.)

  You can also download the form and submit the require documents and sent it by post or

deliver it personally to the Voters Registration & Electors Photo Identity Centres (VREC) of

your Assembly Constituency or to the closest Designated Location or your Booth Level

Officer (BLO)

Offline Method

  This method is for those who cannot get the form by online method. So for them they need

to visit to your nearest VREC of your Assembly Constituency or BLO. Collect Form No. 6 from

there.

  Fill it up and submit with the required documents of proof like Proof or Residence (Driving

Licence, Passport etc.) & Proof of Age (Driving Licence, Birth Certificate etc.). Also there is a

facility of getting the forms at home and collection of documents at home.

So this is how one needs to apply for voter ID card online or offline. When you submit your

application an Application ID will be given to you which is required to be preserved till you don’t

receive your voter ID Card. After this you need to check your Voter ID Card application Status Online.

http://ceodelhi.gov.in/OnlineErms/CheckApplicationStatus.aspx . The only this is required for this

is the Application ID through which you can check your current status online.

If eligible one should vote for the candidate which you feel is the right one for that particular

election whether it is national election, state election or municipal election. Also as per the new

Supreme Court judgement, now an individual will have an option of Right to reject option in which

one can select “None of These” option at the tool booth list.
