How to add the AW whole school Google calendarTo the school website

1. Start by launching AW from your desktop or Browser.

2. Once AW launches hover over Google Apps and click Calendar from the drop down menu.

The following instructions will help you display your AW whole school calendar onto your school website in either Monthly or Agenda view. It’s important to note that the first step is to request the calendar be unlock. As the calendar will remain hidden from public view until it has been unlocked. Make this request via email to the Web Services Department: allwebteam@tdsb.on.caAlso PLEASE NOTE the calendar is edited and updated ONLY through AW not the school website tool.

3. Now in your AW Google caendar in the left hand margin just below the current calendar dates there will be two folders containing calendars. They are My calendar and Other calendars. If they are not opened to reveal the calendars they contain then you need to click on the triangle just to the left of each one.

4. Once you are able to reveal the calendars, you should see three calendars that at first glance appear to be named exactly the same as your school. However once you hover over each one you will see that they are different. Staff, Students and Whole School. Whole School is the one you will be working with. To access the calendar settingsclick on the three dots next to the whole school calendar to reveal a pop up menu.

5. From the pop-up menu click on Settings.

6. Once the Settings window opens scroll down to the Integrate calendar section and click on the CUSTOMIZE button.

9. Next open your school website and either on the Home page if you’re working with the agenda version or on a Calendar page if you’re adding the Monthly view of the calendar. Add a module and open the Advanced editor.

7. Here is where you customize the look and size of your calendar as well as copy the html code from.Start by clicking inside the box next to the Whole School calendar and Elementary School Year calendarif you are blend both calendars for display on your school website. (bottom left corner)Next select either the Monthly or Agenda under the Default View heading. After that you can key in the width and height dimension in pixels. (Agenda view: 260 pixels width x 600 pixels height Month view: 850 pixels width x 700 pixels height) You could also do this step after you’ve copied the html code over to your module on the school website. You can also set what day of the week the calendar will start on. (Saturday, Sunday or Monday) Now click on the Copy HTML button. (Right side of the Embed code box) Once you do that you will get a pop up saying that the ‘HTML was successfully copied to the clipboard’.

10. In the Advanced Editor switch to the Source view and paste (Ctrl + V) the calendar html code into the module. Once done click the Close button to complete the task.

11. Once you’re back on the Page view click on the Publish button at the bottom right hand corner of the site to make the calendar visible to all viewers.

12. On the right is how the full calendar in monthly view will display on it’s own page of the school website. Down below is how the Agenda view will look. Usuallyplaced in the right column of the Home page.
