CASE STUDY 3:TRIM & DRAFT OPTIMIZATION

The trim and/or draft of the ship affects the hull resistance and hence the fuel consumption. By actively planning cargo loading and thereby optimizing the trim and draft, one can save fuel and reduce the emissions accordingly.

Red Cells – Indicate Trims which are unfavorable to the vessel’s speed and ME consumption (More than 2.0 % rise in BHP needed for same speed)
