What is Pollution

Pollution is the contamination of the

environment by man-made substances

or energy that have adverse effects onliving or non-living matter. This

contamination of air, water, or soil

materials interferes with human health,

the quality of life, or the natural

functioning of ecosystems.

Pollution by factories and industries

It really depends on the factory's production. There are many types of pollution emitted fromfactories. These are air, waste, water, and even

noise. Most commonly, we can see thatfactories emit massive amounts of greenhousegases such as carbon dioxide and methane. This is the main form of pollution. However, waste is also another type. Nuclear waste is themost dangerous waste there is and it directlypollutes the surrounding environment. Thiscomes from nuclear reactors.

Prevention of pollutionPollution prevention describes activities that

reduce the amount of pollution generated by aprocess, whether it is consumer consumption,

driving, or industrial production. In contrast to

most pollution control strategies, which seek to

manage a pollutant after it is formed and reduce

its impact upon the environment, the pollution

prevention approach seeks to increase the

efficiency of a process, thereby reducing the

amount of pollution generated at its source.

Although there is wide agreement that sourcereduction is the preferred strategy, some

professionals also use the term pollution

prevention to include recycling or reuse.

• The principal body of law currently in effect is basedon the Federal Water Pollution Control Amendmentsof 1972, which significantly expanded and

strengthened earlier legislation . Major amendmentswere enacted in the Clean Water Act of 1977 enactedby the 95th United States Congress and the Water Quality Act of 1987 enacted by the 100th UnitedStates Congress
