Test Taking Skills Using the Software

• Practice, Practice, Practice! Although you will see many questions over and over again, the questions that do appear are very close to what are on the test.

• Make a list of words that are unfamiliar to you. If you come across any words you do not understand in a sentence, write it down and look it up. It is probably going to appear again.

• Use process of elimination: if it looks like a wrong answer, it will be the wrong answer. Use the functions on the computer during the test on every problem. They are not there to look pretty.

• Sometimes, your first instinct is correct. Go with your gut!

• If two answers say the same thing, then they are the wrong answer.

More Tips…

• When you get your score from USA Test Prep, go over the ones you got wrong, and write down the correct answer. Figure out the reasoning behind it. Why did I think it was this and, and why is that answer correct?

• Figuring out order of events can help you answer the question. For example: knowing that the Boston Tea Party came before Lexington and Concord can be of importance. History is a story. Stories come in an order of events

• Flash Cards! Making Flash Cards of words you do not know helps. You can do things like taking events and making a time line, words you do not know that include words that are not part of history vocabulary, but are used in the questions, vocabulary words, maps, anything that you just don’t know.
