Project’s background• In Thailand, Lesson Study was introduced to improve

teacher education in 2001, the Faculty of Education, KKU attempted to improve the teacher education program.• in 2006, the Center for Research in Mathematics

Education (CRME), KKU attempted to introduce Lesson Study into 4 schools in Khon Kaen Province;

KooKum Pittayasun, Sumsoong District Chumchon Baan Chonnabot, Muang District Baan Bueng Nium Nong Krai Nun, Muang

How can we evaluate the achievement of the project?There are two levels of achievement of the project;• Micro level : school, teachers, students• Macro level : Policy of Thai Education System

The achievement of the project :Micro level : school, teachers, students• The director of the pilot schools participated the

project very well.• Teachers play attention with big effort on the projects.• The students have positive attitudes on the

mathematics classroom through the open-approach and lesson study.• The students have more opportunities to act, think,

play an active role, do something original, and conclude things by oneself.

The achievement of the project :Micro level : school, teachers, students• The students show some interesting responses as

follows: more reasonable, more skillful in observation, more cool-hearted, know how to work cooperatively and more confidence in asking “why?” and “how come?”

The achievement of the project :Macro level : Policy of Thai Education System

• Office of Basic Education Commission, Ministry of Education, supported the pilot project in 4 schools, • The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and

Technology (IPST), start to join the project this year,• Thai government support the project by training the

teachers in 19 schools from the Northeast and the North of Thailand; about 400 people attend the training in May 2009,• Thai government expect to extend the project to the

whole nation.
