• The main element we’re taking from the trailers we analysed is documented found footage sub-genre. This communicates a realistic vibe towards our audience.

• In our movie trailer we’re going to use a mixture of typical teenagers that would be seen in a teen horror movie. By following this convention we’re aiming towards a mainstream audience.

• Our location will be set in country lanes, abandoned ruins and forestry. Forestry was used in The Blair Witch Project and Cannibal Holocaust which is a typical location to set the genre of the film. These locations create a creepy atmosphere and keeping the genre alive.

• This follows typical genre conventions as we want to target a mainstream audience.

• Unlike our analysed trailers, we have decided that we will use high key lighting during the first sequence of shots to create a feel-good teenage hype that lulls the audience into a false sense of security. This may attract a larger target audience by drawing in the population that like teenage hype movies.

• Low key lighting will be used at the point in our teaser trailer in which we reveal it is in fact a horror. This creates a bigger impact as the genre is emphasized to the audience while keeping a tense atmosphere in the movie trailer.

• Each of our analysed trailers use low key lighting to draw in the audiences that enjoy horror movies while also creating a larger impact on the scariness of the movie/trailer.

• Our trailer will use slow paced shots in the first sequence of shots to keep the normal movie approach. Once our trailer reveals it’s a horror film we will use fast paced shots to keep scary feel and to make the audience’s adrenaline kick in. We’ll combine these shots with the music/non-diegetic sound and lighting.

• We will use very upbeat recent music that featured in the charts during the first sequence of shots to keep the teenage party feel to it, whereas we’ll use very fast, scary, heavy bass music to the rest of the trailer to keep the horror atmosphere and adrenaline rush of the audience. The three elements (lighting, sound, and location) will work in synergy to keep true to the genre of trailer and target our intended audience.
