Encourage your student to reach out to their roommate to get acquainted, plan room décor, and decide who will bring what supplies to help cut costs and save space. Students will need to make sure that their first full payment for housing and meals is made prior to the University’s deadline for tuition and fees (August 17, 2020).

Important Details about Housing Move-InImportant Details about Housing Move-In

• For social distancing purposes, a specific check-in date and time has been posted to each resident’s StarRez Housing Portal. Failure to follow the specific date and time will result in waiting long periods of time in the August heat.

• Only one non-resident at a time will be allowed in the building to help the student move in during the time slot allotted. After this time slot, the non-resident should vacate the building to allow others to move in safely.

• Residents and non-residents will be screened before they will be allowed to check in. This screening will include a temperature check and completion of a short questionnaire. If the resident or non-resident fail any part of the screening, the resident will not be allowed to check in at that time.

• All residents and non-residents will be required to wear a facial covering for the duration of the move-in process. Please bring your own; however, the Housing Office will provide a facial covering to anyone that does not have one. Residents will also be required to wear a facial covering any time they are outside of their residence hall room or apartment.

• Only two people are allowed at a time in the elevators.• To help with social distancing, stairwells and side entrances will be open for

move in.• Volunteers will not be able to help residents with personal belongings. The

University will have large bins on rollers to put personal items in to help the process. However, we suggest bringing a dolly and/or collapsible cart to help get items to the rooms.

• Parking will be allowed near residence halls to unload only. After unloading, vehicles must be moved to designated parking lots.

The UL Lafayette Move-In Central website contains additional information about housing move-in, including a packing list, guidelines for decorating, and more!

Meal PlansMeal PlansMeal plans are divided into two components: meal swipes and declining balance. The components of your student’s meal plan will be loaded onto their Cajun Card. Meal plans for the Fall 2020 semester will begin on August 12, 2020.

Meal Swipes are only used in Cypress Lake Dining Room and at Lagniappe Café (a hot meal to-go option). Declining Balance is used like a debit card, except it is a tax free purchase. Declining Balance can be used at any location operated by UL Lafayette Dining Services.

Students can select a meal plan or see their selected meal plan for the upcoming semester in the StarRez Housing Portal. Meal plans are financially beneficial and are huge timesavers for students with busy schedules across campus.

Dining LocationsDining LocationsCypress Lake Dining Room, The Brew (where we proudly serve Starbucks coffee), McAlister’s Deli, and Lagniappe Café are all located in the Student Union. The Ragin’ Cajun Food Court at Agnes Edwards Hall includes Chick-fil-A, Pizza Hut Express, Hissho Sushi, Simply to Go, and other convenience items. Café Fleur de Lis, located near Legacy Park Apartments, offers various dining options as well. Inside of Dupre Library, you can enjoy Jazzman’s Café & Bakery and, last but not least, we have a standalone Zeus behind Griffin Hall.
