As of June 2017, the “Bay Area Paint Exchange” is no longer in operation. Latex paints (not accept-

ed at Hazardous Waste Collections) can be dried and then disposed of in the trash. The lid should

be removed and the can placed in a safe location for the contents to dry out. Once hardened, it can

be placed in the trash. Oil based paints, stains, and paints containing lead are accepted at the annu-

al Clean Sweep Hazardous Waste Collections. See the next page to find a Clean Sweep near you!

2018 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule

The following items will be accepted at the collection at the following prices to residents: .50¢ per circular light tube .50¢ per 4′ or less tube .75¢ per >4′ tube $1.75 per 4’ or less shatter

shield tube $2.25 per >4’ shatter

shield tube $2.00 per tanning bed

bulb $2.50 per H.I.D. light bulb $1.00 per oil filter

Northwest Cleansweep is a cooperative venture supported by: Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Price, Rusk, Sawyer, Taylor and Washburn Counties; Wisconsin

Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, and Northwest Regional Planning Commission.

Simple household items can con-tain heavy metals and mercury that can contaminate rivers, lakes and fish if not properly disposed of. Bring the following items from your home to one of our household hazardous waste collections so they can be recy-cled or managed properly:

Northwest Cleansweep will ac-cept the first 200 lbs. of chemi-cals from farmers or abandoned farms for free. Farmers with ag related wastes can participate at any of the household hazardous waste collection events or at the

permanent collection site in Spooner.

BUSINESS COLLECTION PROGRAM

Materials will be accepted from businesses for a reasonable fee. Please call 715/635-2197 ahead of time to make arrangements.

AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM

Household hazardous waste will be accepted at the above locations & only at designated times. Items including: oil-based paints, solvents, pesticides, hazardous cleaners, rechargeable ni-cad, metal

halide and button batteries, corrosives, flammables, mercury, old gas, and antifreeze among others.

Residents are welcome to utilize ANY of the above collections not just the one of-fered in your particular county. As long as you are a property owner in one of the 10-counties in the NWRPC service region

you are eligible to use any of them.
