Note: All fluids are limited to one gallon per container, and 15 gallons maximum per load.
SMaRT Station® ServicesRecycling Drop-off
Bring recyclable materials to the SMaRT Station for no charge.
• Containers: milk and juice cartons, #1-7 plastic containers and tubs, metal, aluminum cans, glass (no auto/window glass, ceramics, mirrors)
• Paper and corrugated cardboard
• Clothes and shoes
• Scrap metal
• Electronics: computers, TVs, monitors (limit four), small appliances, carbon monoxide detectors, cell phones
• Fluorescent bulbs and tubes
• Strings of holiday lights
• Mercury items: thermostats, thermometers
• Sharps: needles and lancets in plastic containers with tight fitting lid
• Paint: drop-off available Monday–Friday only (limit 15 gallons)
• Cooking oil*
• Used motor oil and antifreeze*, oil filters
• Household and auto batteries
*Limit is 10 gallons in 1-gallon capacity plastic containers or smaller with screw-top lids
Trash Disposal
Bring garbage or bulky items to the SMaRT Station for disposal. Fees are charged for most items. Go to Sunnyvale.ca.gov and search Recycling Center for rates.
• Residents** must provide a valid form of identification
• Businesses** must provide a valid business license
• Open-bed trucks or trailers must be tarped or will be provided a tarp for a fee of $15
Other Services
• Compost: available at no charge to residents**; call 408-752-8530 for availability
• Buy-back Center: redeem California redemption value beverage containers
• Reuse trailer: furniture and other reusable items are available for free to residents**
