HOUSEHOLD APPLICATION FOR STUDENT MEAL BENEFITS HOUSEHOLD LETTER SCHOOL YEAR 2019-2020 WWW.MYSCHOOLAPPS.COM PARENTS/GUARDIANS: IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ In order to maximize the funding your school receives to educate your child, it is very important that you complete the Application for Meal Benefits and return it to your child’s school cafeteria or to the Food and Nutrition Services Office at 2320 W. 4 th Avenue, Denver, CO 80223 as quickly as possible. Your school receives much of its funding from students qualifying for meal benefits even if they do not eat school meals. Just by qualifying, your school receives money for educational needs. In addition, there are programs where you may receive other benefits that are associated with qualifying for free or reduced price meals such as: Book Fee Waivers, Scholarships, Reduced Athletic fees, ACT Testing fees, Reduced Bus fees and the list goes on. These programs are offered on a school by school basis; please contact your child’s school for more program details. After the meal application has been processed, we will send you a notification letter that documents your child’s status for free, reduced or full pay meals. Please keep this letter while the information on the Application for Meal Benefits is kept confidential, you may choose to use the notification letter to qualify your child(ren), for the other available benefits. PLEASE NOTE – Students will remain in the same status from the previous school year for the first 30 operating days of school. If a completed application is not received and processed within the 30 day time frame they will be full pay until an application is received and a new status is determined. CHARGING MEALS: Because hunger is an impediment to learning, no child shall be denied a school meal because of an inability to pay. Children will be offered a school lunch that meets the U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition standards for school meals. Families are required to pay any debt accrued for lunches served to their children. Families who submit a school meal benefit application are responsible to make a full payment for lunch until the application is approved . All charges accrued prior to student’s free or reduced meal status eligibility are due. Students and or parents/guardians are encouraged to pay in advance for meal purchases. Deposits in any amount may be made to a student's meal account, either at the school cafeteria or on-line at myschoolbucks.com, reducing the chance that their lunch money will be forgotten, lost, or stolen. While students still have the option of paying as they go through the line, advance payment will speed transactions, allowing lines to move more quickly and affording more time for eating their meals. All students have personal accounts regardless of paying status (free, reduced, or full pay). SOLICITUD FAMILIAR PARA RECIBIR BENEFICIOS DE ALIMENTACIÓN ESTUDIANTIL CARTA FAMILIAR

PADRES Y TUTORES LEGALES: LEAN ESTA INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE A fin de maximizar los fondos que recibe su escuela para educar a su estudiante, es muy importante que llenen la Solicitud para recibir beneficios de alimentación y la entreguen a la cafetería de la escuela de su estudiante o a la Oficina de Servicios de Alimentación y Nutrición en 2320 W. 4th Avenue, Denver, CO 80223 lo más rápido posible.

Su escuela recibe gran parte de su financiación de los estudiantes que cumplen con los requisitos para recibir beneficios de alimentación, incluso si no comen comidas escolares. Con solo cumplir con los requisitos, su escuela recibe dinero para cubrir las necesidades educativas. Además, hay programas en los que pueden recibir otros beneficios asociados al cumplir con los requisitos para recibir comidas gratuitas o a precio reducido, tales como: exenciones de pago de libros, becas, cuotas de deportes reducidas,

cuotas de la prueba ACT, cuotas de autobús reducidas y la lista continúa. Estos programas se ofrecen en algunas escuelas.

Comuníquense con la escuela de su hijo para obtener más información al respecto.

Después de que se haya procesado la solicitud de servicios de alimentación, les enviaremos una carta de notificación que documenta si el estado de su estudiante es para recibir comidas gratuitas, a precio reducido o con pago completo. Guarden esta carta. Aunque la información de la solicitud de beneficios de alimentación es confidencial, pueden optar por utilizar la carta de notificación a fin de solicitar los demás beneficios disponibles para su estudiante.

IMPORTANTE: los estudiantes mantendrán el mismo estado del año escolar anterior durante los primeros 30 días escolares. Si no se recibe y procesa una solicitud completada dentro del plazo de 30 días, deberán pagar el precio completo hasta que se reciba una solicitud y se determine un nuevo estado.

COBRO DE LAS COMIDAS: debido a que el hambre imposibilita el aprendizaje, a ningún niño se le negará las comidas escolares debido a que no pueden pagar. Se les ofrecerá un almuerzo escolar que cumple con los estándares de nutrición del Departamento de Agricultura de EE. UU. para las comidas escolares. Las familias deben pagar cualquier deuda acumulada por los almuerzos que se hayan servido a sus hijos. Las familias que presenten una solicitud para recibir el beneficio de alimentación escolar son responsables de pagar el monto total de los almuerzos hasta que se apruebe la solicitud. Se deben pagar todos los cargos acumulados antes de la aprobación de elegibilidad.

Se recomienda que los estudiantes o los padres y tutores legales paguen las comidas por adelantado. Se pueden hacer depósitos por cualquier monto a la cuenta personal de los estudiantes, ya sea en la cafetería escolar o en línea en el sitio web myschoolbucks.com a fin de reducir la posibilidad de que su estudiante olvide, pierda o le roben el dinero para el almuerzo. Aunque los estudiantes disponen de la opción de pagar al hacer fila, el pago anticipado acelerará las transacciones, lo que permite que las filas se muevan más rápido y que los estudiantes tengan más tiempo para comer. Todos los estudiantes tienen cuentas personales sin importar el estado del pago (gratuito, a precio reducido o completo).

Si deciden NO llenar una solicitud de beneficios de alimentación o no cumplen con los requisitos para recibir comidas gratuitas o a precio reducido, los precios para el año escolar 2019-2020 son los siguientes:
