2018 Prep enrolments If you have a Prep child starting school next year, please enrol them as soon as possible as we are currently organising groups for our transition sessions. For parents whose children have not attended kinder or not been away from parents much, we are offering an Extra Steps Program with several one hour sessions for you and your child to attend where you can discuss any concerns with our current Prep teachers. Letters regarding our Transition Programs beginning on Wednesday 18th October have already been sent out to families who have children enrolled for 2018. For more information on how to enrol your child into these sessions or how to enrol your child for school next year please contact the office on 9789 0077.

Footy Pie & Autism Awareness Dress Up Day - Friday 22nd September

Children are invited to dress up in their favourite footy team

colours or dress up wearing some colourful rainbow accessories, like ribbons in your hair, colourful socks or

beanies. Notices have been sent home regarding Footy Pie orders that

must be returned to school no later than 9:00am Thursday 14th September.

The Canteen will NOT be open for orders on this day.

The Amaze foundation raises awareness and influences positive change for people on the autism spectrum and their

families/supporters. We ask children to bring along a gold coin donation to support the Amaze Foundation.

Please join us for our Colours Parade at our whole school assembly on the basketball

courts beginning at 1:50pm.

Come dressed as your favourite book character for the day.

Lost property is now located in the gym foyer! Has your child lost their jumper?

Please come in and have a look for your child’s jumper.

Items that are clearly labelled with names have been returned to classrooms.

Please also check your own child’s jumper to ensure they have brought home the correctly labelled item.

The weather is still very cold. A number of students are coming to school each day without a jumper or in the wrong school colours. Please ensure your child is in school uniform each day. If your child is missing their jumper, please check

the lost property basket.

Module assemblies are held each fortnight and commence at 2:45pm. Prep & Junior Assembly is in the gym, Middle Assembly is in the Prep Gallery and Senior assembly is in the BER Building (Senior rooms).

Parents are welcome to attend all assemblies.

Well done Preps!

Well done to all of the Preps for their outstanding performance of Baby Elephant Walk at Whole School Assembly. It can be so nerve racking to stand up and perform in front of the whole school, and they did a fantastic job overcoming those nerves and giving such a confident performance. They all showed such great dedication in learning their parts, and I’m very proud of their efforts! -Mrs Emery

KPG News KP-TV Channel (in – house)

We are looking to introduce an in- house TV channel for the children to produce items and deliver them to the school and community. We would also like to aim for this to be uploaded to our Facebook and website to promote what we do at Kingsley Park. In conjunction with Matt Brand, the KPG are currently getting quotes as the specialized equipment can be quite expensive, however we are looking to re – purpose equipment we have here at the school. If anyone has any connection with Tech companies, please let us know. Money raised from our upcoming Parent Night will go towards purchasing the equipment we need. Keep up the good work of Collecting Earn & Learn stickers!

So far we have 12 720. Last year we were the highest school in the area with

58 000. Lets keep earning and aim higher this year!

Rewards Program. This has now ended. We came 6th which unfortunately doesn’t see us

receive any rewards but we thank you for your support.

Footy Pie Day Friday 22nd September

Please write you order on a brown paper bag and place the correct

money inside (just like a lunch order). Each child must have an individual order and all

orders must be returned to school by NO LATER than

9:00am Thursday 14th September.

Parent helpers are needed on the day to assist in the canteen please.

Camp was spectacular!! My favourite activity was the giant swing because it

made my heart race. Maddy My favourite thing at camp was going to the top of the giant swing. Pulling the

rope was hard and when it let go my heart beat really fast and I was scared.

The commando course was tricky and scary but a lot of fun. The most challenging

part was when you had to drag yourself on the pole across water. Jaxon

Camp was fun and exciting. The giant swing and leap of faith were

scary. The commando course was a great experience. The giant swing was fun to watch because of

people’s scared faces. Aseri and Riley

Camp was a great experience because we had so many fun activities to do and we were always busy doing things.

We had a movie night and we watched Finding Dory. Some people got wet when they did hut building because their huts had holes and when the teachers/parents threw

This fortnight’s focus is

Organisation: I can be organised for everyday tasks

and challenges.

Organisation means having everything you need to complete tasks and knowing what you are working

towards.

Kingsley Park will be introducing a new mentoring program called Kids Hope, which will assist in the wellbeing of our school where children will be selected to receive a mentor who will come into the school and spend an hour each week with them. We will be partnering with a local church in our community who will provide thoroughly screened and trained mentors to work one-on-one with a child they are matched with. There will be no religious affiliation with the mentoring. We are looking forward to partnering with Kids Hope in the near future. For more information, please speak to our school

Recently I attended the 2017 Community Grant Presentation evening with the Bendigo Bank and was presented with a Philips Heartstart Defibrillator. Thank you to the Bendigo Bank for this emergency lifesaving equipment that is located in our school office. Gill Gray

RACV Pushcarts & HPV

RACV is where a group of Senior students train to use a pushcart or HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) to compete against other schools in

Maryborough in November each year. So far this year we have approached many different businesses to

gain sponsorship. We are all meeting on Monday’s and Tuesday’s as a group to learn about friction and centre of gravity, as well as creating a presentation. We also train weekly to practice our changeovers on/

within the vehicles.

District Athletics On Friday 1

th September, 39 selected students from Years 3 - 6, went to Ballam Park Athletics track to compete at the

Frankston District Athletics Carnival. It was a beautiful day which made perfect conditions for Athletics. Over the course of the day, students were competing for points in each of the events. At the end of the day all the points were tallied and Kingsley Park came equal 3

rd with Banyan Fields. All students demonstrated fantastic behaviour

and sportsmanship throughout the day. Whilst all students contributed to the team result we also had outstanding individual results. Students had been working hard at lunchtime training sessions to achieve their fantastic results. Some student ’s had limited experience in athletics, yet still preformed extremely well. We have 11 students who qualified for the next level of competition which is Divisional Athletics. We also have 3 relay teams who are competing at this event. Thank you to all the parents who came and supported Kingsley Park students also thank you to Mrs. Fogarty and Mrs. Williams for helping to supervise students at the event. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the event and well done to all those students who will be representing Kingsley Park at the Divisional carnival on 11
