Cleanliness of the body and in the home supports and teaches cleanliness for work and school, however, certain items cannot be bought with food stamps and the cycle often continues. Pastor Frances saw basic needs unmet and she chooses to give.

“No one asked me to start the Soap Ministry; I saw a basic need and wanted to do what I could to help people help themselves.” For over 30 years, Pastor Frances Branner has used her own income to buy basic hygiene and sanitary products to distribute to neighbors in need. Cleanliness of the body and in the home supports and teaches cleanliness for work and school, however, certain items cannot be bought with food stamps and the cycle often continues. Each month, Pastor Frances shops in local stores to purchase enough bar soap, dish soap, laundry powder and toilet paper to stuff 80 bags for distribution every 3rd Saturday. People arrive at The House of Prayer in Dandridge as early as 7:30 a.m. on that 3rd Saturday to await Pastor Frances opening the doors at 8:00 a.m.

2 Rolls of Toilet PaperPurchased or donated in bulk at the grocery or dollar store and divides among the bags.
1 Bottle of Dish DetergentMost often purchased from the dollar store. Families can cook with & eat from sanitary dishes.
2 Bars of Bath SoapIndividually packaged bar soap is purchased at various dollar stores, clearing the entire shelf.
1 Box of Laundry PowderClean clothes for the children to wear to school. Clean clothes to wear to job interviews and work.
