Well this fullness of the Gentiles may allude to Ephraim indeed, (as well as real gentiles).

But there are still 9 other lost tribes of the House of Israel.

Why is Ephraim so important? Because his tribe is far more numerous and has a leadership role for the lost tribes.

We will look at the prophecies concerning the House of Israel in more detail later.

There are many prophecies in the Old Testament regarding the restoration of Israel.

These prophecies include, not just the Jews, or the House of Judah, but also the 'Lost Tribes' of the House of Israel.

First though, let us look at the nature of biblical prophecy and then their past history...

Biblical Prophecy

God is outside of time

Prophetic branches

Before we study in detail the prophecies concerning Joseph and his descendants who

lead the Lost House of Israel, perhaps it would be good to look at the nature of

prophecy itself, or at least some important aspects of prophecy.

Time &

Prophecy

God is outside of time...

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending,

saith the Lord,

which is, and which was,

and which is to come,

the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8 KJV

PAST PRESENT

FUTURE

Yeshua (Jesus) is beyond time

את

“For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity,

whose name is Holy;

I dwell in the high and holy place,

with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble,

and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Isaiah 57:15 KJV

God inhabits eternity

“Before the mountains were brought forth,

or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world,

even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.”

Psalms 90:2 KJV

God is eternal

He was

He is

He will be

PAST

PRESENT

FUTURE

היה

הוה

יהיה

ETERNAL He was, He is, He will be יהוה

Hebrew

Yahweh יהוה

'Hahyah'

'Hoveh'

'Yihyeh'

='Yahweh'

i.e. 'Jehovah'

This is the word usually translated 'LORD' in the Old Testament.

So God's Timeless Eternal nature, is reflected in His name.

He was and He is and He will be – i.e. The Eternal Lord.

(Time Lord!) Or Lord of History, past present and future.

or 'LORD'

If God is outside of time then it stands to reason that his view of history would be very different from ours.

In fact He would be able to not only see the end from the beginning, but would be able to turn to any page...

...after all, the world was made by His word (Genesis 1, John 1)

We are like the words on the page, but God, the author can turn to any page.

And he can take his servants the bible prophets and show them things in the future.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

The End is in the Beginning

Isaiah 46:9-10

-this should remind us of Genesis, the Beginning.

So the end, is in the beginning.

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times

the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand,

and I will do all my pleasure:

later Babel was built...

Yahweh's will is finally done on earth as it is in Heaven.

The End is in the Beginning The events of the book of Revelation (the last book of the Bible, that is, The End) are heading towards the events of Genesis. There, in the beginning, the Heavens & Earth were created,

… soon Babylon will be destroyed (Rev. 18)

and a New Heaven and Earth will be created (Rev. 21).

i.e. we have come for circle. &

So it must be rebuilt first! - see Lesson 6 - Talk 6

Not only can the events of history be viewed by God, the Eternal LORD, at any time but there is another aspect of history that we see in the bible.

That is, the events of the past ripple on into the future.

Adam's sin ripples on through time, affecting the whole race of Adam.

The Messiah, the second Adam dealt with sin on the cross and His atoning work ripples through time too, and is available to all God's saints throughout history.

The decisions the Patriarchs make ripple on to affect their children. In fact often their children go through similar experience.

e.g. Abraham goes to Egypt, so does Jacob, then Joseph then all Jacob's sons, finally all Israel are there and are redeemed.

Your DNA heritage never dies and never fades away!

Hi Mom,

Hi Dad!

DNA stores your ancestral identity and characteristics like a stack of books with all the information to make you physically. Biblically the seedline of your race is determined by who your father is, not your mother! (although it's important to have good moms!)

So if you trace your family line through your father, and then his father, and his father you will find out what race you are from. So the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel may not know who they are but they have not disappeared! (All Biblical Genealogies are Patriarchal.)

So Yahweh will fulfill His promises to them.

Jacob's 11th son & his Favourite. But first born of Rachel Given a prophetic Dream that His

26. The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

Ephraim & Manasseh

Genesis 48 1. And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.

2. And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.

Genesis 48 3. And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

4. And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.

Genesis 48 5. And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

6. And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.

Genesis 48 7. And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath:

and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Bethlehem.

Genesis 48 8. And Israel beheld Joseph's sons, and said, Who are these?

9. And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place . And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.

Genesis 48 10. Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.

11. And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed. 12. And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.

Genesis 48 13. And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near unto him.

14. And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.

Genesis 48 15. And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,

16. The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

Genesis 48 17. And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head unto Manasseh's head.

18. And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.

Genesis 48 19. And his father refused, and said, I know it , my son, I know it : he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.

20. And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.

Here is where the ten northern tribes of Israel were located.

They were called the “House of Israel”

They were headed by the tribe of Ephraim who was the dominant tribe of the northern Kingdom.

Whereas the two southern tribes were collectively called the “House of Judah”,

The apostle Paul was a Jew (Yehudi) from the tribe of Benjamin, as was Mordachai in the book of Esther.

even though it also contained the tribe of Benjamin!

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it , (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;) 3. That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,

Psalms 90:4-4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

II Peter 3:8-8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

6. And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people? 7. And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

The Counsel of the Old Men

8. But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him: 9. And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?

The Counsel of the Young Men

10. And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins. 11. And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

The Counsel of the Young Men

12. So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day. 13. And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;

The Counsel of the Young Men

14. And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. 15. Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

The King chooses the foolish counsel of the Young Men

16. So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents. 17. But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

The Northern Tribes Rebel

18. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. 19. So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day. 20. And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

The Northern Tribes Rebel

21. And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.

War is Averted - Jeromboam is King of the Northern tribes of the House of Israel

22. But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying, 23. Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

War is Averted - Jeromboam is King of the Northern tribes of the House of Israel

24. Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD. 25. Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.

War is Averted - Jeromboam is King of the Northern tribes of the House of Israel

26. And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David: 27. If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

Jeroboam introduces idolatry to the House of Israel

28. Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 29. And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. 30. And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.

Jeroboam introduces idolatry to the House of Israel

31. And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi. 32. And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

2 Kings 17:7-8 7 For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods, 8 And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

2 Kings 17:9-10 9 And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city. 10 And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:

2 Kings 17:13-14 13 Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. 14 Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.

2 Kings 17:23-24 23 Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day. 24 And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel: and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
