Has work area been cleaned of sludge, wax and oil (cleaned out to at least 10m from the hotwork location)? Is work area at least 0.5m from bulkheads of bunker tanks containing bunkers? Are gas and liquid lines to area blanked? Have heating coils been blown? Have valves been secured shut, lashed and tagged? Are tanks fully inerted or gas-free? Complete following checks:

Area must be free of flammable materials and flammable gas

Have adjacent spaces and tanks been checked for combustibles and leakage? Are vapour and

liquid lines to area blanked and sealed?

Ensure space is adequately illuminated.

Has work area been cleaned of sludge, wax and oil (cleaned out to at least 10m from the

hotwork location)?

Is work area at least 0.5m from bulkheads of bunker tanks containing bunkers?

Are gas and liquid lines to area blanked?

Have heating coils been blown?

Have valves been secured shut, lashed and tagged?

Are tanks fully inerted or gas-free? (if applicable)

Have all tank emissions been stopped? (if applicable)

Have all cargo operations ceased? (if applicable)

Has the work piece been moved to poop? (if applicable)

Person(s) that carry out work should be suitably attired and be using the correct safety

equipment.

Inform bridge and engine room at start of operation.

Maintain fire watch. Are fire appliances ready?

Know how to raise alarm if emergency occurs.

When work is complete, inform bridge and engine room.

I am satisfied that the appropriate safety procedures are in place and the Tanker Department have been informed.
