Welcome to Hotel New York

This historical building is the former head office of the Holland America

Line. It is often thought that the room which now houses the restaurant

used to be the departure hall, where there was a constant coming and going

of passengers. In fact, it was an office, where dozens of clerks checked the

passengers‘ papers before allowing them to board. If there was any problem,

either an administrative or a medical one, emigration to America was not

allowed. Nowadays, this room is a place for enjoying good food and drinks,

from simple snacks to full meals, in all price ranges, from early in the morning till late

at night. We are especially proud of our genuine Rotterdam oyster bar, where freshly

prepared shellfish are served daily. We wish you a tasty stay!

SHELLFISH PER PORTION (COLD)Whelks 14,25This shellfish from France is fried in olive oil and garlic,

then finished with white wine. The meat has a firm ‘bite’.

Winkles 11,75 A small, snail-shaped shellfish from the Netherlands.

A little patience is required to pick them out of their shells

using a pin.

salty flavour.

Fines de claires 21,00Wild French oyster. ‘Claires’ are shallow basins or former

saltpans. There, the water is very rich in plankton and not

too salty, resulting in oysters of a more delicate flavour.

Normandy creuses 21,50Cultivated in open water. This oyster has a characteristic

salty, nutty flavour.

Zeeland creuses 22,50Dutch Oyster, mainly cultivated in the province of Zeeland.

Zeeland flat 00 23,00 Famous for its fine, soft meat. The Zeeland flat is rarer than

the Zeeland creuse as this oyster has to ripen for five or six years.

Charente Maritieme 24,00French creuses from Marennes, the best place to get oysters in

France. Extremely refined, slightly briny flavour.
