In total the Middle East region has currently 638 hotel projects in
the pipeline with more than 193,800 hotel rooms.
OVERVIEWREGION
48% of all 638 hotel projects that are currently arising in the Middle
East region will be 5 star hotels.

In 2019 86 new hotels have opened their doors in the Middle East
region. Looking at 2020 almost 31% of all current registered
projects are scheduled to celebrate their inauguration. Leading
countries in terms of expected openings in 2020 are the United
Arab Emirates with 72 projects, Saudi Arabia with 41 projects and
Qatar is looking forward to add 18 new hotels to their current hotel
portfolio.

The 638 hotel projects in the Middle East region are separated in five different phases due to their construction progress. 58% of all
projects are currently under construction. The 83 hotels which are currently in the pre-opening phase are expected to celebrate their
inauguration within the next six months.

81% of all hotels which are currently in the pipeline in the Middle East will be branded by any type of hotel chain. Only 19% of all new
hotels will be independently owned and managed. In terms of new development, Hilton Worldwide is the leading hotel group in the
region with 71 projects in the pipeline, followed by Accor (68 projects) and the Marriott International (60 projects).
