The seagulls pleaded with lord Vishnu to help them. so Vishnu opened his mouth and swallowed the entire sea in one gulp and created Mother earth. after swallowing such a huge water body when lord Vishnu was asleep, demon hiranyanksha tore the limbs of Mother earth. The broken limbs towering towards the sky formed the mighty himalayas.

Mountaineering or mountain climbing began as an effort to explore the virgin mountains of the world. In order to popularize mountaineering, the government has set up mountaineering institutes. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute was established in the year 1954 to encourage mountaineering as an organised sport. Apart from this, there is also the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. The Indian Mountaineering Foundation is the apex body which organises expeditions for mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing, trekking etc.

Mountain origaMi• Take a rectangular origami paper.• Fold the top right hand corner of the paper down.• Fold the rectangular part of the paper over so it is on top of the triangular part of

the paper.• Turn the paper over and fold the highest point of the triangle down to the bottom

corner of the triangle. This halves the size of the triangle and creates a pocket.• unfold the rectangle on the bottom.• Fold the stand. Fold up the right and left bottom corners of the rectangle at an

angle. insert the corners into the pocket formed by the folded triangle. This will form a triangular support stand for the mountain.

• Fold the support section backwards and adjust it so that it supports the paper mountain.

• Decorate your paper mountain. To add realism you could use some natural materials.
