MABEL BASSETT CARE PACKAGE FUNDS

These packages are filled with hygiene items and might be the only gift many inmates receive. Please give cash/checks to

Jerry Way or Jo Anne North by Dec. 1.

THANKSGIVING DAY IN THE CITY

On Thanksgiving Day, we will deliver meals to people who struggle with limitations keeping them from having a traditional homemade meal. We plan to deliver approximately

1,800 meals to nearly 200 different locations; we need a lot of help. In years past, it has taken more than 500 volunteers helping in a myriad of ways. We hope you will make plans to participate!

There are several ways you can help: Let us know about those in need of a Thanksgiving meal. Cook the meals beginning at 7:15 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Assemble and package the meals, and help with delivery logistics beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Deliver meals, with delivery times ranging from approximately 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Clean up after the event. Help with preparations on Wednesday, Nov. 21. Prepare homemade pies on Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Volunteers will enjoy eating Thanksgiving lunch together immediately following the last delivery. If you are interested in volunteering, or would like to request a meal for yourself or someone else in need, sign up at mrcc.org/thanksgiving or on the MRCC app. If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]. Thank you for your help.

CHRISTMAS GIFT PROJECTS

Pick up packets next Sunday, Nov. 18, for as many people as you like from Capitol Hill / Luther / MRCC Families, shop, then

bring the gifts to the office on Nov. 25 or Dec. 2.

Campus Ministry Souper WednesdayThis Wednesday, Nov. 14, our Campus Ministry will be having its annual "Souper Wednesday," an evening of fellowship around many wonderful homemade soups. If you would like to make a soup for our college students, please sign up in your Bible class or contact Debbie Carter at [email protected]. Please deliver your soup to the summit kitchen by 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, and don’t forget to label your containers. If you make a soup, please stick around and get to know some of our college students.

Leadership Training for Christ registration begins today. Information can be found at the table in the foyer.

Skills Night RecapBiscuits were made. Decorative signs were drawn and painted. CPR, calligraphy, and yoga were practiced. Pinwheel Christmas tree ornaments and hair flowers were created. Hair braiding, Mason jar usage, chocolate candy creation, and pie making were demonstrated. Knowledge was imparted about blogging, capsule dressing, healthy eating, home & activity modification, smart phones, social media, and self-care for caregivers. Thank you to the 21 teachers and over 150 participants in our fourth annual Skills Night! Special thanks to Jay LeBeau and his set up crew and to all the men who provided security for the evening.
