Hello Residents, Family Members, and Friends:

“When Irish eyes are smilingSure, ‘tis like the morn in SpringIn the lilt of Irish laughterYou can hear the angels ….” Hello and Happy March!

We are singing and reading and planting this month as our March Activities begin!

Spring Hills Morristown is hosting “Read Across America” on Sunday March 5th at 11:00am. This is a national program developed with the NEA to bring reading excitement to children of all ages. Volunteers will be visiting SHM with Children’s Books and reading to them. Families, staff, children and grandchildren are invited to come and join the fun.

Plant a Flower Day is Sunday, March 12th. We will be planting Daffodils, the symbolic flower of the Month of March. It is fitting that flower looks like a trumpet and will herald the arrival of spring. Plan to come and plant with us!

The Girl Scouts will be visiting on Monday March 13th, National Girl Scout Day! The Girls Scouts will be encouraging the Residents to earn their badges in exercise, song and of course… cookie selling.

The wearing of the Green on St Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17, will be complete with a corned beef and cabbage dinner! We are having our St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at 2:15pm. Proline Entertainment will be providing musical enjoyment. Pretzels and beer will be served. Come and sing the best of the Irish ballads with us!

Highlights of the Month Resident of the Month

This dapper gentleman was born and raised in Jersey City New Jersey on April 9th, 1948. His parents were Charles and Mary Miller. His mother was a house wife and his father worked for the NY central railroad moving engines.

Ron had one older brother named Charles Junior. They enjoyed playing basketball and listening to music. Charles Junior is now a priest at the St. Thomas Apostle Church, which is a roman catholic church. Ron used to enjoy bowling very much. He loved it so much he turned it into a job as a young kid. He said he used to be a “Hustler” when it came to bowling. Ron attended St. Anthony’s High School, and he says that he used to make a lot of money senior bowling with other people, and meeting up at different spots.

On Friday nights he used to meet up with other bowlers in a bowling ally in china town and they used to put money up for each game and the winner would go home with the money. He did so well with this, and he was able to purchase three cars along the years. One of his prize possessions was a blue Chevy convertible. He said he even had a TV in it.

Ron went off to Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, but he never used his

degree. Instead, he went off and received his NJ state electrical contracting license, and proceeded to live his life as an electrical contractor.

Throughout the years he had a wonderful relationship with a woman by the name of Francine, whom he had met in high school. After both of them completed college they got married, and have been married for 26 years until they decided to part ways. He enjoyed her cooking and they enjoyed playing tennis, and gambling. They went on a 10 week exploration to Europe.

As a result of this wonderful marriage they produced three beautiful children. They have a daughter named Janine who now is a Dermatologist in Anchorage, Alaska, and Francesca who is a stay at home mom. Also they have son named Morgan who works for Rockefeller foundation in Investments.

Before Spring Hills Ron was living in his home in Morrisplains, and he was the president f the condo association for several years. Due to some health issues Ron had to next the next move, and found Spring Hills. He says he loves the people here at Spring Hills and everyone had a pleasing personality!
