Choosing a topic

• Something that confuses you
• Something that interests you

Visual Aids
• Posters, Power Point Presentation

The Presentation- some details• Intro: just like the title- catch listener’s attention, short, to
the point
• Timing: aim for a few minutes longer than minimum time allotted incase you talk a little faster than normal
• Notes: are allowed, but don’t rely on them (practice without)
• Conclusion: like the intro- short, relevant
• Cite References: bring in your actual sources if possible (or a picture of the source)
• Questions: be sure to repeat the questions audience can hear question

Impromptu Speaking
• Senior only• No prior knowledge of topic
– Chose between 2 topics– 15 minutes to prepare– No visual aids
• 5-8 minutes
Final Thoughts
