Some of their films include: The last exorcism The cabin in the woods A vampires tale Abandoned Alive or dead

My first case study was The Last Exorcism (2010) which is an American supernatural horror movie which was directed by Daniel Stamm, a German independent filmmaker, and was shot with the use of a handheld camera to add realism. The film trails a minister who has performed exorcisms for year yet decides to be part of a documentary showing his last exorcism, whilst exposing his fraud as a practising minister. He receives a letter from a farmer which asks him to help drive the devil out of this mans daughter.

The Last Exorcism made $67,738,090 at Box office and stars of the hit included Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell and Iris Bahr amongst many more.

It was produced by Eric Newman, Eli Roth, Marc Abraham and Thomas A Bliss and the production companies were Strike Entertainment, Studio Canal and Arcade Pictures. The distributors were Lionsgate who bought the rights for the US distribution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Exorcism#ProductionDimension films is a main American film production and distribution studio which was owned by Walt Disney studios but is now owned by The Weinstein Company. From 1992, the company become renowned for its contribution to the horror film genre but also produces comedy and action films.

Some of their horror movies include: (the later) Halloween films Scream Scary Movie Children of the corn

Another case study which I have researched is about the movie Scream (1996) which is from the sub-genre of slasher. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven, Scream made $173,046,663 at box office. The flick stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, Jamie Kennedy and Drew Barrymore.

The movie follows the story of a character called Sidney Prescott, a student in the fictional town Woodsboro, becomes the victim of a secretive murderer known as Ghostface.

The production company which produced this film was Woods Entertainment but it was distributed by Dimension films. The producers were Cathy Konrad and Cary Woods. This blockbuster hits unique selling point was that the movie featured characters who were aware of real world horror films and who discussed clichs which Scream tried to subvert. The film was inspired by Kevin Williamsons passion for horror movies.
