Kelly has attended Pelham City Schools since third grade. She is in FFA and on Yearbook Staff. She has maintained a 3.4 GPA, and she is on AB honor roll. She plans on at- tending Bainbridge College after high school and becom- ing a registered nurse. She works at Foister’s BBQ and has worked there for three years. Kelly says she will miss her friends when she graduates. She loves Pelham High because she gets to socialize with friends and gets to see her favorite teacher, Mr. Todd. By Carrie Nobles This week’s Hornet Spotlight also shines brightly on Denzel Jackson. Denzel has been a great addition to PHS for four years. He has been most active in sports during his school years; however, he has also been in FCA all four years and has been in FBLA his senior year. Denzel has played football for four years and played basketball his sophomore year. The thing Denzel is going to miss most about the class of 2013 is his football team and being their teammate. Outside of school he likes to play football with his son and lift weights. Denzel has been defensive caption of the football team for two years. His hobbies are football, basketball, and playing cards. After graduation Denzel plans on going to Concordia College to play football and major in Accounting and Entrepreneurship. Song of the Week is “Thrift Shop.” The hit single by

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis has been buzzing on radios

across the nation. The song

has even reached heights of #2 on Billboard’s Top 100.

Everyone make sure you go

and check out this song if you haven’t heard it already; it’s

pretty catchy.

Literary Team Competition Mr. Hill’s Economics classes have been working on a project called “Shark Tank” this semester. Shark Tank is where a panel of business

executives and investors (called 'Sharks') consider offers and listen to pitches from entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking fund-ing for their business, products, or services. The groups that were

assigned in his class presented their ideas to a panel of judges. Many of the groups had interesting ideas to pitch. Such products as Dance Juice, Super Box, and Smark Water were presented to the judges. The judges were the faculty and staff of PHS. The purpose of this project is

to help students learn what it takes to make it in the business world.

By Veronica Ramon

Shark Tank—With Mr. Hill Mitchell County 4-H went to Project Achievement in Eatonton at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on February 1-2, 2013. The 4-H’ers prepared a portfo-

lio or resume of their activities from 2012. In addition, they prepared either a presentation on the topic of their choice, performed a song,

danced, played a musical instrument or prepared a recipe. Marcia Harper

placed second in Senior Communications. Cheyenne Brooks was third in Senior Sports. Savannah Swilley placed fourth in Senior Festive Food for

Health. Courtney Batchelor will represent Mitchell County 4-H in July

during the 2013 State 4-H Congress to compete for state honors. This month the 4-H’ers will show

their appreciation to their teach-ers supporting 4-H in Mitchell

County. By: Antonio Green, Jr.
