2 horizontal lifeline systems
Designed to give workers the mobil it y they want and the safety t hey need.
A horizontal lifeline system may appear to be a basicline strung between two anchors. It is not! Properengineering is critical to ensure a safe lifeline. Failureof a lifeline system can cause serious injury or evendeath.Typical failures involve improper calculation ofclearance,no account for sag in the lifeline,misun-derstanding of anchorage strength, and location.
Calculating clearance and fall distance is crucial toensuring worker safety. Many factors must be consid-ered,d-ring height and movement, cable sag anddeflection, shock absorber length and extension, initialanchorage height, and distance to lower obstructions.Horizontal systems that have not endured rigorousengineering and testing can not possibly predictthese factors and are extremely dangerous.
In any homemade lifeline system some sag in thelifeline is inevitable. While it may not seem like animportant detail, the amount of sag amplifies theforces on your end anchors. In a system with only 5degrees of sag the forces on the anchorage would be5 times higher than those for the worker. If the work-er was exposed to 1,800 lbs.arresting force theanchorage connectors would be subjected to 9,000lbs.each.To meet the minimum safety factor of two,for an engineered system, each anchor must supportat least 18,000 lbs.
DBI/SALA takes the guesswork out of putting togeth-er a horizontal fall protection system. Each of oursystems has been engineered to met the demands ofthe workplace and meets OSHA and ANSI require-ments. With four unique systems you are sure tofind a solution to your individual requirements and asafe alternative to unengineered products.

Horizontal Lifeline Systems
Iron Wing systems are designed for situations
where extremely long or mult iple spans areneeded or when larger beams are presentduring heavy construction, bridge work, on piperacks, etc. The easy to install and fully customizableIron Wing System is carefully engineered for con-tinuous fall protection while giving you freedom ofmovement. Choose from standard models to fitbeams up to 1-1/4 thick and 6-12 wide,or selectoptional components to fit up to 3 thick and up to24 wide beams.
DBI/SALAs 3-point claw/contact system offers relia-bility without tie-back, reducing trip fall hazards. Theall metallic system, designed for durability and safety, includes a 3/8" 7x19 galvanized cable lifeline offsetfrom the beam by 12 inches for easy passage andelevated 40 inches high for use as a hand rail.Engineered for convenience as well as safety, you canpurchase a complete turnkey system or custom-design a system to fit your specific job requirements.

BeamSafe
Por table HorizontalLifeline Systems
BeamSafe is an excellent choice for building andbridge construction where spans of 60 feet or less
are needed.Designed with the help of craftsmen inthe field, the BeamSafe systemgives you aneasy-to-install tie-of f point before flooring orother fall prot ect ion is available. Position theBeamSafe system almost anywhere on a beam forboth fall protection and as a hand-rail for balance--for up to two people. Installing the system is quickand easy, requiring just a standard wrench to assem-ble the two bolts and a safety strap. Each lightweightstanchion, weighing less than 35 lbs.,mounts at a 19degree angle from the base to keep it out of the waywhile walking the beam.

Shock Absorber for HorizontalLifelines
Weveadded safet y and t aken the guessworkout of put ting together your own horizontal
lif eline system. Can you answer the following ques-tions? How much clearance do I need? How willlifeline sag and span distance affect the safety of mysystem? What forces will be generated on my endanchors? Do my anchorage connectors and supportstructure have sufficient strength?
Now you can. This revolutionary new shock absorberfeatured on our Beamsafe and cable Sayfline sys-tems is also available separately. In situations wherea competent person understands the requirementsneeded,Zorbit can be attached to your own sys-
tem to bring safety to a previously unsafe system.
