Other directions for future collaboration:

• Biological monitoring (compilation of the Register of Lichens (196 species) and brioflora (63 sp.) basing on main forestecosystems and recommendations (40 - lichens and 8 - moss) to be applied in assessing the environmental quality;Development of the Lichens Toxitoleration Scale (LTS) and Air Quality Assessment Scale (AQAS) based on correlationstudy between species diversity, abundance, frequency and toxic toleration intensity of bioindicator species;

• Evaluation of human impact on around 100 representatives ecosystems on territory of the Republic of Moldova viabiological monitoring, connected to the EMEP (Geneva Convention, 1979), ICP Forests and mapped the territory based onpollution with SO2, NOx, heavy metals).

• State of the environment, natural and cultural heritage of representative natural areas (Natural heritage) - Scientificargumentation of protection categories correspondence of 85 objects protected by state and proposal of 6 objects and 7habitats to be assigned as new protected areas within the Prut River Basin. Currently, studies - on State Protected NaturalAreas: ecological status, identification of specific conservation measures, rehabilitation and expansion in the context ofenvironmental Conventions (Dniester River Basin), 40 objects.

• Developing of programs and studies to provide quantitative and qualitative water resources, estimation of water potentialin relation to sustainable development requirements of society in line with environmental strategy and policies (estimation oftransformation degree of pollutants in water and self-cleaning and nitrification capacity, calculation of critical loads ofpollutants and irrigation coefficients of natural waters, assessment of springs water quality in areas of study, estimation ofrainfall impact on soil acidification process, calculation of mineral ions quantity in soil brought by rains, quantitative andqualitative monitoring of atmospheric depositions, modelling of pollutant dispersion based on meteorological parameters).

• Evidence and elimination of anthropogenic hazards that threaten the integrity of the representatives ecosystems andbiodiversity conservation, determination of optimal conditions for the environment restoring. Radioactivity of somecomponents from representatives ecosystems.

• Integration of environmental protection prescriptions in sector policy, environmental education, decisions makingactivities on the conservation and rational use of natural resources at local, national and transbourder levels, etc.

• Impact of pollutants on deterioration of functionality of environment components (air, water, soil) in natural &anthropic ecosystems: processes and methods;

• Models and concepts on fluxes, determination diffusion and degradation of organic pollutants (POPs, detergents,PAHs) in natural and anthropic ecosystems.
