I struggled while designing my layout for my spread, and also with finding suitable, candid photos. I learned how to create transparent boxes and how to use the color dropper tool. My favorite part was writing the copy and captions and coming up with headlines.

I had a hard time using the selection tool on this pic-ture because the tool kept picking up the lines on the ice rather than the uniform of the player. I should’ve zoomed in for a more accurate color selection. I liked editing this photo because there was a lot of action.

This was my first beat of the year, and I tried to focus on the two girls in the center. It was hard to not blur them out and just do the background because of the two people in front. I should’ve taken the picture at a better angle so they weren’t blocked.

I edited this photo at the beginning of the year, and I tried to use the blur tool so that it would focus on the soccer ball, but looking back the blur is not that evident. I should’ve focused on the soccer ball more. I also should’ve edited the photo so the colors were more distinct.

This was one of my first photo edits with Photoshop, and looking back I should’ve picked a larger subject to focus on, since the yard-line posts are very small. I also should’ve zoomed in more for a more accurate selection. I learned how to invert the colors to black and white.

This was my first copy of the year, but I had an easy time getting coverage for it. I should’ve gotten more grade levels in my coverage, though. My attributions for this copy were incorrect, because I put “said” after the quote rather than before and they didn’t follow AP style.I also learned that I need to shorten my copy, and get rid of un-neccesary information.

It was really hard for me to make such a boring cer-emony interesting, and looking back some of the infor-mation in this copy is unneccesary. I should’ve used oth-er grade levels in my coverage, not just 10th grade. I also should’ve left out the extra information on applying for the club because it’s unneccesary and not very interesting. Lastly, I should’ve found the names of the speakers.

I had a lot of difficutly describing Winter Wonderland in a unique way and getting quotes because most of the people I interviewed I didn’t know originally. I had to use the AP style guide to check my punctuation.

I learned how to describe a boring event in an inter-esting way for this copy. Looking back, I should’ve used a variety of people, rather than all 10th graders. My attribu-tions for the quotes were also incorrect.

It was really difficult for me to figure out all the tools in Adobe Photoshop, but I learned how to use the selec-tion tool and invert colors tool. Looking back, there were a lot of errors and mistakes that I could’ve seen had I zoomed in. My photo should have also been candid, not posed.
