What You Need to Get Started • Your Cook Memorial Library card in good standing • Your mobile device • Hoopla app—free. Go to the App Store on iOS devices or Play Store on Android devices to download. Set Up Your Hoopla Account • Open the Hoopla app • Tap “Sign Up Now” • Choose “Cook Memorial Public Library District” from the list of libraries • Create an account by entering your email, creating a password, and entering your CMPLD card number. We do not require a PIN for Hoopla so leave that space blank. Finding and Borrowing Items • You will be on the homepage when you sign in. This lists the items that you have checked out as well as the formats available. • Scroll down the page to see the formats. To browse within a specific format, tap • To browse genres… - on an iOS device, tap in upper-right corner; - on an Android device, tap in the lower-right corner. OR • You can search from any page by tapping . This will search your keywords in all formats. • Tap the cover of the title you would like to borrow. • On the following page, tap • You may download the title to enjoy it offline. To download - on an iOS device, tap - on an Android device, tap • Borrowed items can be found under “My Account,” accessible through the app menu. Enjoy! Demo Content is listed under Genres for Movies, Music, and Audiobooks. Try borrowing and using demo content when you’re new to Hoopla; this will help you become acquainted with the service and the app. What is the difference between streaming and down- loading? Streaming means that you are watching or listening to the media on your device but the media is stored elsewhere. In the case of Hoopla, the media is stored on their servers and you must have an Internet connection to access the media. This requires that you are connected to the Internet the entire time you are watching or listening to streaming content. Downloading means that you save the media to your device and the media will take up space on the device. Once you have finished downloading media, you no longer need to be connected to the Internet.
