Homonyms Definition: Homonyms are words which are spelled alike but have different meanings in different contexts. For example, the word: bark has three distinct meanings. The first is the sound that a dog makes. The second is the cork-like covering of a tree, and the third is a type of sailing vessel . By contrast, Homophones are words like: flour and flower.
