Please encourage your child to read each day, or read to/with them regularly. Aurora College Aurora College is NSW’s virtual school, offering a mix of online and residential school classes for high potential and gifted students in rural and remote government schools. In 2021, Aurora College will have an Opportunity Class for Year 5 students enrolled in rural and remote government primary schools. Students will study the content of the Mathematics and Science and Technology syllabuses, with a focus on STEM. The first intake of Year 5 Aurora students will be in 2021. These students will comprise Aurora’s first Year 6 cohort in 2022 and there will be a new intake of Year 5 students in this, and in each subsequent year. Applications for Year 5 placement in the virtual opportunity class in 2021 now open Tuesday 9 June 2020 and close at 5 pm on Friday 26 June 2020. The Opportunity Class Placement Test for 2021 entry will be held on Wednesday 16 September 2020. Information has been handed out to all students currently enrolled in Year 4. Please contact the school if you require further information. Hearing Itinerant Teacher Margo Lowry, Hearing Itinerant, will be attending the school on June 25 to inform students about looking after their hearing. She will also be conducting hearing assessments. A permission note to have your child’s hearing tested will be sent home today. Please return by June 19 th . COVID-19 We are continuing to focus on the wellbeing of students and staff as we progress through term 2. School students do not need to follow physical distancing guidelines, however, we are continuing to follow good hygiene practices like: · Regularly washing hands · Avoiding sharing drinks or food · Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which should be discarded immediately. School Reports A modified version of school reports will be sent home in Week 10 of this term. Parent and Teacher interviews will be held in Week 2 of Term 3. All parents are welcome to make contact with the school at any time to discuss their child’s progress.
