WRITING : This week we’re going to be imaginative and try to write a story about the adventures you had when you woke up and you were…

‘Only an Inch Tall!’

You can use this as your title or create one of your own. Here are some ideas to think about to help you to plan your writing…

How did you discover that you’d changed size?

Do you know how it happened?

How did you feel when you discovered your new size?

What challenges or problems did you face?

Were there any advantages to being only one inch high?

Did you discover any new skills/talents/possibilities?

TECHNOLOGIES

ALIEN PLANET

This is going to be a 3-4 week challenge. I’ll give you an Overview of the Challenge and then let you know the Section to focus on each week:

Overview of TaskDesign and create an alien from one the planets in our solar system and create an audio recording of the alien describing its planet.

FAITH DEVELOPMENT

Liturgy

Lots of our Faith involves us in sharing our faith together as a community at home, in church

and at school. Motherwell Diocese have prepared a children’s liturgy for each week while it’s more difficult to celebrate faith together. Here is the link for this week.

Our Lady and The Rosary

This is the beginning of the Month of May. During this month, we focus on the life and

vocation of Our Lady and we try to pray to her.

MOVIE NIGHT

Watch a movie together at home. There are some great learning activities you can do

the next day, too…

Write a Movie Review.

Practice writing to give your opinion by creating a movie review. I’ve attached a Checklist below to help you to remember

what you should include to make your review an effective and informative piece

of writing.

I’ve also attached a template that you may wish to use to help you to structure your writing or if you don’t feel confident

about writing longer sentences and paragraphs on your own. If you’re happy to work without this and create your own structure, that’s great! Do what’s best for

you.

Week beginning 11.05.2020 How did other people

react to your new size?

SPELLING: Use the Common Word List to choose a wordlist

for this week. Between 6 and 12 words is a good length. You can

use our Active Spelling Strategies to practise these.

You could do this outside in the garden or if you’re out for a walk, you can collect some natural items to create your

words with.

Silent Letters Spelling Rule: Your Spelling words for this

week are on Sumdog. When I speak to you on the phone, I’ll

give you your login, if you don’t have it already. In case we don’t

chat, here’s a copy of the two live Word Lists:

List 1: answer, swords, wrestle, whole, wrap, write, wrapped,

know, rhinoceros, honest, hour, dishonest

List 2: kick, kicks, kicked, bring, bringing, stamp, stamps,

stamped, call

GRAMMAR: Grammar Activites are set on Sumdog.

READING – POETRYDo you have a favourite poem? Try reading it and

The audio must include facts about the planet’s distance to the Earth and the Sun, how long it takes to orbit the Sun and its size. The audio must be no longer than three minutes.

This Week’s Task

Make your alien! Remember that you can use any items you have at home. It doesn’t have to be fancy or perfectly finished off. Just have fun creating it; enjoy working with someone else on this if you can; make sure that you are following the criteria we set out in Week 1 and… take a picture of your fantastic creations to let others see!

Many people find that praying to Our Lady during difficult times helps to strengthen their

Faith.

Have you made a May Altar yet? When you’re out for a walk, you’ll be able to collect lots of

natural items like wild flowers and stones, which you can decorate and arrange. We’re doing this at home this week. I’ll let you see

how it goes.

fantastic work!

Tomorrow I’d like to…You can write this reflection

down, draw it or just talk about it with someone else.

how fantastic you can make them look!

MAKE YOUR OWN CHALLENGE!

This week, challenge yourself to try something new. This can be anything you like. It could be a part of the Learning Grid that you haven’t tried before or

anthing else you like!

If you can, record your challenge by drawing, writing,

taking a photograph and if possible, share it with use via Twitter or Google Classroom.

~~~Wind on the Hill
~~~

No one can tell me,Nobody knows,

Where the wind comes from,Where the wind goes.

It’s flying from somewhereAs fast as it can,

I couldn’t keep up with it,Not if I ran.

But if I stopped holdingThe string of my kite,

It would blow with the windFor a day and a night.

And then when I found it,Wherever it blew,
