A “rakat” is a prayer movement. Particular prayers are said with each prayer movement.

**Why could this be important to do in a Muslim community?

Muslim men are strongly encouraged to pray the five daily prayers in the mosque in a group, rather than individually. This is called Jamaah (meaning - In group). Women have complete choice to either pray at home or in the Mosque.

Also weekly -- that's every friday afternoon -- men MUST go to a congregation called Juma (meaning - gathering) in the Mosque. It's optional for women.
