What’s New From HTHU?

Summer Recertification Schedule SunLink Healthcare Technology would

like you to be aware:

CMS is modifying Conditions of

Participation (CoPs) to require all

hospitals and inpatient facilities,

including CAHs, to send electronic

patient event notifications of patient’s

admission, discharge, or transfer to

another healthcare facility or provider.

Bridging the care continuum will improve

care coordination by prompting a

receiving healthcare provider, facility, or

practitioner to deliver appropriate care in

an automated process: CMS

Interoperability and Patient Access final

rule, visit:

https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-

Guidance/Guidance/Interoperability/index

Does this affect CAHs? Yes. This

requirement is the same for all hospitals,

Acute and Critical Access Hospitals. All

hospitals need to ensure they are

electronically sharing patient event

notifications with patients’ primary

providers.

How are hospitals impacted? CMS

reimbursement is reduced if hospitals

don’t comply.
