In PMF a metric is re-usable across all reports and graphs.Calculations are stored with the metric as properties. No

Replaces hand-coded WF files with Metrics Management system Calculations are reusable All Metrics roll up the same way Metric formula stored with the metric, not report code Each Metric can have a standard drill context – website, document

repository, report Targets for each Metric are stored with the Metric Importance – WEIGHTING – stored with each Metric

Allows Metrics to be organized into Strategies Assign causes and effects of Metrics Compare Metrics and do Predictive analysis – “how will we do?” Combine with planning, forecasting, budgeting processes Combine with Project management, Process management systems

Three Steps of PMF Implementation

Page 24: Home WebFOCUS User Groups David Cook November, 2009

Home

Easy Implementation Steps

There are two methodologies for implementing PMF You can work “top down,” that is, starting with a high-level

strategy which you’ll draw and capture into PMF and prototyping measures.

Or you can work “bottom up,” creating a KPI Dashboard using loaded measures and adding the strategy elements at some later point, or as you go.

Bottom Up

Metrics

Home

PMF Implementation steps

Decide what dimensions to use and where to get them. Examples: Products Sales Representatives Customers, Locations, etc

Decide what level to collect metricsDecide what levels to report and aggregate metrics Load dimensions

Validate hierarchy usage Determine Refresh frequency

Page 26: Home WebFOCUS User Groups David Cook November, 2009

PMF Implementation steps

Determine metric formulas and sources Margin, Sales, Profit (from CPM system) Commodity Indexes (from external data) Inventory Cost (from AP system) Inventory Fill rates (from inventory system) Sales calls (from sales tracking system)

Load Metrics, validate, determine refresh frequencyOrganize scorecards

Sales Performance Customer Performance (SLA) Vendor Performance (SLA) Operations Performance

PMF Implementation steps

Determine audience roles and authorization What functional role What scorecard(s) represent appropriate information What dimensional authorization What dashboards, analysis tools for roles

Deploy! Refresh and repeat Add drill-downs from PMF Metrics to detail

With consistent sales growth of 25% over the last 5 years, this dynamic and innovative privately owned company will undoubtedly live up to its motto & continue to "Create the Difference" in Canada & around the world.

“In a commodity business like generic drugs, any edge you can gain in your operations is extremely valuable, PMF provides us the edge in operational performance we need: a single version of the truth for decision making & better insight into actual sales & manufacturing processes. We can quickly generate corporate scorecards, see results linked to objectives & take action accordingly.”
