Baseball is of course entirely about going home, because it is the only game you ever heard of where you want to get back to where you started. All the other games are territorial – you want to get his or her territory – not baseball. Baseball simply wants to get you from here back around to here.

And the amused superiority and icy scorn the non-fan directs at the sports nut, I know this look – I know it by heart - is understandable and almost unanswerable. Almost.
