2016SILENT HEROES SECTION

Jan 22 Thomas Edison “The Wizard of Menlo Park.” Join us as we separate man from myth, and learn the history of his inventions and discoveries. Using tabletop experimentation, participants will reinvent the electric light, Multi-Graph telegraph and much more.

Feb 5 Waterpark Day

Feb 25 Mercury and Gemini As we tour our Space Museum artifacts, we will take an in-depth look at our first space missions. Participants will have a chance to wear a space suit and try some real astronaut food. Tang anyone?

Mar 18 Happy Birthday Einstein—Amazing Inventions Learn the history of Albert Einstein, his work in astronomy and physics. Participants will work on simple physics experiments though out the day.

MILITARY HEROES SECTION

Apr 22 Yuri’s Day Participants will learn the history of the early Soviet space program, make our own air-powered rockets and view a black powder rocket launch demo.

May 27 Vietnam War: 10,000 Days that Changed America From the early U.S. involvement through the fall of Saigon, participants will explore the history of Vietnam. Our Museum docents will tell firsthand how the U.S. fought and survived this world-changing conflict.

The Museum is proud to host monthly Home School Days throughout the school year for home-schooled students. Our day-long programs are aligned with Oregon state standards, and programs consist of content instruction with hands-on application.
