Visit www.rossdales.com for sample request forms, equine reference ranges, SI unit conversion tables, sampling techniques, test information and other details about our laboratory services.

RESULTS REPORTINGWe send, wherever possible, a report by email, fax or first class post on the same day that the samples are received. We will telephone urgent results, if requested, or where we deem indicated. Please make sure we have your correct email, phone and fax numbers.

ACCOUNTSItemised invoices and statements are submitted monthly. Prices noted on reports are for advice of charges (exclusive of VAT) only. We appreciate prompt settlement and offer a discount to clients based on their expenditure with the laboratory. We will discuss individual special arrangements for large batches of samples. Please contact us to discuss your particular requirements.

Prices for tests referred to external laboratories (indicated in the price list) may be subject to change during the course of the year.

DIARRHOEA SCREENING PANELSWe have been developing panels of tests to screen for infectious causes of diarrhoea. These have proved both useful and cost effective, and our range of tests is still expanding.

NEW PATHOLOGISTWe are delighted to welcome Jill Bryan, who has joined the laboratory as a diagnostic pathologist. Jill joins us from University College Dublin, where she worked as a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology. She qualified from the same College in 2003, having also completed a BSc in Veterinary Pathology at the Royal Veterinary College as part of her undergraduate training. After three years in equine and small animal practice she undertook a residency in Equine Internal Medicine at the University Veterinary Hospital in Dublin and became a diplomate of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine in 2011. She subsequently completed a residency in Veterinary Pathology and obtained her fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2016. She enjoys all areas of equine diagnostic pathology and has particular interests in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. She is already proving to be a great addition to our lab team.

NEW qPCR TESTSCORONAVIRUS: In 2017, Rossdales Laboratories detected the first clinical case of equine Coronavirus infection in the UK – results recently presented at the ECEIM conference in Budapest by Jill Bryan. The incidence of disease is low, but in cases with compatible clinical signs, testing helps confirm the diagnosis and is a useful addition to our panel of qPCR tests for infectious causes of intestinal disease.

INFLUENZA: Influenza qPCR is a new addition to our panel of respiratory pathogens.

DERMATOPHYTE qPCR: Assays are in the final stages of validation – keep an eye on our website & latest submission form for these new tests.

See the PCR section (p10) for our full range of tests and sample requirements.

NEW POSTMORTEM FACILITYWork on our new postmortem room was completed early in 2017 and provides us with a fantastic new facility for performing these examinations.

Please contact the laboratory on 01638 663017 or the duty vet on call if you need to submit a carcase for postmortem examination.

NEWS 2017 has been another good year for Rossdales Laboratories and we thank you for your continued support. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, so please do get in touch if you have any feedback.
