Home Learning – Year 6 English Maths Monday Memory Book - Draft As this half term progresses, we will be spending our time thinking about the amazing experiences that we have had at Kenilworth and looking to the future. This week we would like you to create a memory page for your end of the year yearbook. You can present it however you like, using the computers or handwritten but it must fit on one page of A4. Tuesday Empathy Day – See timetable of events attached below. Today is Empathy Day. We are proud (and lucky!) to be a hub for Empathy Lab and we champion empathy in all that we do at Kenilworth. Empathy is made up of 3 elements: thinking; acting and feeling. Today, on Empathy Day, we are encouraging everybody in our school community to do three key things: Read: Find and start an empathy-boosting book Connect: Practice listening 100% Act: Use your empathy skills to make a difference Below, you’ll find a timeline of activities being hosted by Empathy Lab which you will be able to access through www.empathylab.uk – please choose one (or more, if you are able!) to take part in at home. As this half term progresses, we will be spending our time thinking about the amazing experiences that we have had at Kenilworth

Thursday Listen to the story ‘Nothing’ by Mick Inkpen here. Looking at this picture from the story – can you create speech bubbles that share how the character is feeling? You can include information about what they can see, hear, smell, taste and feel, including all of the emotions that they are feeling. Use information from the story to help you discover how he is feeling.

Thursday Divisibility Tests Choose and complete an appropriate challenge. If you’re confident, complete two or more challenges!

Friday Using the work that you did yesterday, can you create a diary entry from the perspective of Nothing? Use all of your excellent writing techniques to create an emotive piece of writing –can you make the reader empathise with Nothing because of the quality of your descriptions? You should use: - a range of sentences (simple, compound and complex) - amazing word choices (the best verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions and conjunctions) - excellent punctuation to control how the reader reads the text () , . - ! - figurative language (including similes, alliteration, metaphors and emotive language)
