LO: I can use time connectives.

Today we are going to use the sequence we made yesterday of the

MeerkatMail story to create sentences using time connectives.

  • Time ConnectivesTime connectives are used to tell us when or in

what order we perform an action.

Here are a list of time connectives.

    first(ly) now earlier

    second(ly) before later

    after again finally

    next soon then

    firstly finally before later

Next, he went to the farm.

This sentence tells us that this is not the first action we take. Sunny visited the farm once he had been somewhere else.

Firstly, Sunny went to visit his Aunty and Uncle.

When we use a time connectivewe use a comma after it. This sentence tells us that the first action we need to take is to wash our hands.

    then earlier next secondly

Can you retell the story using time connectives to show what order the events

happened. Use the examples on the previous page to help you.
