Step-3 Continue to unfold the rear of thebox until it looks like a triangle. The part fac-ing you, as shown here, will be called the frontof the box. The narrow point will be called therear of the box.

Step-4 Unfold the four side flaps, top andbottom.

Step-2 Unfold the box so it looks like abutterfly from the top. The box should be up-side-down, with the arrows and writing on thesides also upside-down.

Step-5Pull the two small front flapsflaps from the inside.

Maximum length of bike from fork tipto outside of the rear tire is 56”(143cm.)

Maximum height fromfloor to top of seattube is 30.5”(78cm.) Maximum handlebar

width is 25”(66cm.)

Step-7 Flip the front flapsover so that they are on top ofthe side flap (folded over in theprevious step). Be sure to con-nect the matching numbers(i.e., match “1” with “1.

Step-8 Flip the last big flap over so thatit completely closes the bottom of the box .This will match-up the number “2” with “2”.Tape the free edges of the box closed withsix or seven strips to bridge the edges asshown. Place the strips approximately 8-inches apart. Then use a long, continuous stripto completely seal the edges of the box.

Step-6 The side flaps should beflipped over to begin forming the closedbottom of the box.

Wheel Truck(only in K8350 Aircraft kit)

OPTIONAL AT EXTRA COST.

Step-10 Carefully flip the box over whileholding the transit plate or wheel truck in place.The lettering will now be upright and the ar-rows will point up. Once this is done, pull thesmall flaps from the inside of the box to theoutside.

Step-9 Locate the ground transitplate. (You may substitute the wheeltruck for the ground transit plate, if youpurchased the K8350 kit.) Place thewheel truck or ground transit plate atthe front of the bottom of the box sothat the studs go through the holesinto the box. This will connect number“3” on the wheel truck or ground tran-sit plate with “3” on the container.

2012 LARGE INSERT

Stand up the insert.

Lock the green tab on one of theinserts into the slot of the other insert.

Push the locked inserts flat againstthe rear of the shell.This will formtwo triangles in the corners.

Lay insert on a flat surface. Havethe side with th A’s closest to you..

Crease the folds so they show the twoletter A’s.

Step-11 Fold each large insert as shown. Then fit both inserts into the shell of thebox. Be sure to lock the tab of the inserts at the rear of the shell as show in steps F, G, and H.

Step-12 Before going further, mark your seatpost and handlebar position for later as-sembly. Now remove the front wheel and the saddle with seatpost from your bicycle. Loosenthe handlebar binder bolt just enough so that your handlebars can rotate in the stem. Shiftyour rear derailleur so that the chain is on the hub’s largest sprocket. Make sure the seat postis lightly greased to prevent future problems.

Step-13A Place the fork mount on a flat surfaceoutside the box. Depending on your wheel size, orientthe fork mount as shown. Insert the fork into the fork mountand tighten the wing nut clockwise. Place the bike, withfork mount attached, into the box. Place the fork mountover the threaded studs protruding through the bottom ofthe box. Choose the pair of holes in the fork mount whichallow the handlebar to be as close as possible to thefront of the box, without touching. Place two wing nutsover the threaded studs and tighten clockwise.

Insert the fork into the forkmount and tighten the wing nut clockwise. Use as many washers as necessary toprevent interference. Remove the front 2 or 4 handlebar stem bolts using theallen wrench provided. Rotate the stem and fork so that the stem faces the backwheel as shown. Upon reinstallation always tighten the handlebar stem bolts tothe recommended manufacturers torque settings found in the bicycle ownersmanual.

For Mountain Bicycles with Flat Bars (optional)Step-13C Place bike with fork mount into the box. Place the fork mount over the threaded studsprotruding through the bottom of the box. Choose the pair of holes in the fork mount which allow the headtube to be as close as possible to the front of the box without touching. Place two wing nuts over thethreaded studs and tighten clockwise. Strap the handlebars to the sprocket side of the box at two points. Ifpossible, lower the seat on the bicycle or place the seat in the plastic bag provided on the sprocket side ofthe box. The crank arms should be perpendicular to the floor for the best fit.

Step-14 Fold the two small inserts and insert them into the box as shown.Position them toward the rear of the box to the point where they lightly pressagainst the bicycle’s seat stays and or chain stays. Do not let the inserts touchthe chainrings (chainwheels).

Position the rear wheel to the right of center to provide more protectionfor the rear derailleur. Always shift the rear derailleur into the largest rearsprocket for shipping.

Step-16 Place the frontwheel inside the box, oppositethe bicycle chain. Use two ties tosecure the wheel to the side ofthe box.

Step-15 Place your saddlewith seatpost into the small whitedraw string bag and secure it to thechain side of the box with one tie.Use one more tie to secure the whitedraw string bag about half way downto prevent the bag from swinging.

Step-17 Secure the rear wheel with one tiethrough the horizontal rear opening. Tie a squareknot.

No.6No.5 Step-18 To close the top of the box, firstclose the inside flap “5” and then close the outsideflap so that the “5”’s match up. Next close the flapwith the aircaddy.com logo on it, so that the“6”smatch up, this will complete the closure.

Step-19 Tape the free edges of the box closed with stripsto bridge the edges as shown. Place five strips approximately 8-inches apart. Then use a long, continuous strip to completelyseal the edges of the box. We suggest you print your homeaddress and cell phone number on the label near No.6 .(Remember: If you fly commercially, donot tape the top of yourbox closed. After inspection the airport personal will tape theaircaddy closed.)

Step-17B Fold the original shippingbox in half and store it on the sprocket sideof the box between the outer shell and thelarge insert. This does two things, it storesthe shipping container for future use andadds extra protection for the derailleur.

Step-21 Multiple containers can bestacked on top one another in several ways asshown or nested next to another.

Step-20 If you have the Aircraft Kit withthe wheel truck, moving the box is as simple aspicking up the pointed end and rolling it away.Grasp the box using the lower, vertical slot.Make sure to lift the pointed end high enough toengage the wheels and either push or pull theAirCaddy, whichever method gives you the mostcontrol.
