The Lenten season is here and we are open for business! Please come and join us for our Lenten Fish Fry's as we head towards spring. We are still at only a 25%capacity for the lounge but you can order your fish to go as well.We are still looking for new members to join our ranks as Brother Knights, please contact our MembershipDirector Len Vokal at (313) 949-0652 or Tony Lalli at (313) 779-4976. This process only takes 35minutes to complete and will make you proud of the charitable work we provide those in need.We will be setting up our annual planning calendar meeting for the upcoming fiscal year starting in July,

this is your chance to come up with an event you would like to put on for the Council. Bring your idea to us with dates andtimes and what the event would be so we can approve it and get it scheduled into the calendar. This planning meeting will be inMarch and will take place in our Council Hall where we can spread out. Keep Wednesday, March 24th at 7pm open in yourcalendar to help us with ours. All chairman of events are required to attend this important meeting. Our Summer Concert Series dates are in the works starting in May and will go on in our council park through October. Pleasecheck your monthly Knight Notes and or Facebook to get your concert listings. Should be a fun summer ahead after a longwinter. Also starting in March will be our long awaited Steak Cookouts which will take place the last Wednesday of every month andrun through October. Come enjoy a mouth watering steak that you prepare yourself along with Salad, Garlic Bread and Desert.Tony Lalli and his crew are looking forward to seeing you once again after a long Hiatus.Until next month, God Bless and stay safe!Sincerely, Joe Martinez (Grand Knight)

Chaplain’s Corner We are soon to begin our Season of Lent 2021. This should be a very different Lent because we haveour sacrifices already made up for us. Coping With COVID we are asked to maintain social distancing, wear face masks, not engage in visiting, avoid any kind of gathering that is not structured, and above all,be kind to one another. Being regimented in this manner and faced with cabin fever by spending too much time at home withthe same persons hour after hour, day after day, can try the best of us. But Lent is for dying to oneself andlooking out for one another. Its all little more difficult than ‘giving up’ something. Its a good time tochallenge our Christian Faith. Do you pay lip-service to what is asked by Jesus; or do you make your best

efforts to learning what it means to die to your own self interests and living for someone else. We are faced with this challenge to our Faith. Saying what I believe is one thing; doing it is another matter. Jesus saysyou must be “ DOERS OF THE WORD, NOT HEARERS ONLY”. I challenge you, my brother knights, to rise up to thischallenge and learn a little more about thudding so that you might see a little more what the coming celebration of Jesus’Resurrection is all about for you. And I will pray for you as you hopefully pray for me that we experience a deeper living ofthat dying-and-rising.Fr. Tom, Council Chaplain

Steak Cookouts Back March 31st !Integral to this event being a success will be stringentuse of face coverings and social distancing. We don’twant the K of C to make the front page of The News-Herald as thelatest viral hot spot. Our committee is working very hard to make thisa safe event as well as a happy event so if you don’t want to come inthe front door of the lounge wearing a face covering, go somewhereelse. Once you enter the lounge you will notice there are fewertables and chairs. This is order to encourage social distancing. Go tothe bar and purchase your drink and pay for it. Next go out into thecourtyard and purchase your steaks. At certain times we mayrequest that you delay grilling your steak to prevent crowding aroundthe grills. In that case you are free to back into the lounge for anotherdrink. After grilling your steak go over to the big hall. Also instead ofa buffet where you help yourself to bread, baked potato, and salad, there will be a bread and potato station where you will go to receivethese items and a salad station. In the case that the safe capacity ofthe main hall is exceeded, the Fr. Saylor Room will be opened. By

using the total dining capacity of our facility we hope toaccommodate the usual turnout of our Steak Cookouts withoutcompromising safe Social Distancing. In the meantime start whetting your carnivore appetite becausealthough the price of good cuts of meat has been skyrocketing

and its availability is scarce, Tony Lalli has worked very hard tosecure a supply of our famous strip steaks. And Joe Martinez hasinsisted that we hold the price this spring to $12.00. This makes theFr Saylor cookout the best steak deal in all of SE Michigan. Now, remembered it is six weeks from when we go to press (Feb22nd) and the cookout. A lot can happen in that time especially theface-to-face reopening of many schools on March 1st. We hope andpray that the trends of the past several weeks continues and that bythe time of the steak Cookout levels of transmission statewide aredown to those of mid-June. If there is a sharp outbreak associatedwith the restart of school and another lockdown is warranted we willput a cancelled banner on the sandwich board in front of the lounge.Hope to see you March 31st..Steak Cookout Committee, Tony Lalli, Chair
