About two years ago I got hooked on computers through u
computer club as my school. I rushed into buying a Tl-
99/4A, which wasn'tfor me. I'm not saying ii's rubbish —some of the cartridge software can V be matched and the
speech synthesiser is hnlliunt bit: I J el: its BASIC was lot
limned ami Slow.
When I got my TI there were only four, maybe five
people in my form with computers. Since Christmas I
estimate that more than halfnow have them. But instead oflearning on them, till they do is play games such as fel Pack
and Horace Does Ski-ing.
I think it's a waste of timefor parents tofork out
£100for a computer to play games on when you can bu

To most children the computer is a status symbol. All
you hear is "...my computer has more memory than
yours", "...my computer has better graphics than yours"
and so on. One hoy I know makes fun of the memory ofanother boy 'sZXSI. He has a \IC-20. Hut ifyou compare it
with, say. the Commodore W. ivho has •'it skimpy memory
