Designers Contents

Flemming Hoejfeldt was born in 1950 in Denmark and is the owner and CEO of In-novation. The inventive and multi-skilled entrepreneur founded the company back in 1981, where he functioned successfully as designer, engineer and production ma-nager in one. His first design was the Del-ta-bag, which in 2006 was re-launched as the Player beanbag. Today he has speciali-sed staff, but as a truly autodidact person, Flemming Hoejfeldt still keeps an eye on every step of the process at Innovation, and is happy to take the challenge, whene-ver obstacles occur. He keeps his feet on the ground and yet never misses a good opportunity to develop design or business. Flemming Hoejfeldt is the driving power behind the worldwide expansion of Inno-vation as well as several good design ideas.

Jerry Yang was born in1968 in China. He is the president of Beijing Innovation. He studied in Denmark and graduated from Roskilde University. In 1998 he returned to China and established Beijing Innovati-on Furniture co.Ltd.

Marc Lebas was born in France in 1965. As a publisher and designer of innovative objects, he is involved in the design of fur-niture, electronic items and, for more than 10 years, solar powered objects.He used to work with designer Olivier Peyricot (IDsland, 96) and Clementine Chambon (Lustre solar lulu 01, 2008). Ico-noclast, he aims to simplify objects to give them more meaning and bring out their poetry.Convinced that the conventional appro-ach to design and manufacture objects must change, he founded in 2010 Litoga-mi, Editor of sustainable development objects and creates the mini solarhouse « Casagami ».He collaborates with French engineers, developing objects using new photovoltaic technologies.

Andreas Lund was born in 1969 in Den-mark. At Innovation he has contributed to the design process of the popular sofa beds Wing and Puzzle. He started his care-er as an organ builder before he studied at the Danish School of Design, where he gra-duated in 2000. Thanks to his talent, An-dreas Lund has been rewarded with nume-rous design funds and prizes. With his own company, Format Design, he has created both furniture and product design for se-veral Danish companies and participated in various exhibitions. Today he is more-over teaching at the Danish School of De-sign and the School of Architecture in Copenhagen.

Per Weiss was born in 1959 in Denmark and is the Director of Innovation Design Office International. As an all-round creati-ve person, he started his career as a profes-sional musician, while already studying at the School of Architecture in Aarhus. Then giving a higher priority to his design visi-ons, he worked for some of the famous Danish architects, Friis & Moltke and Sch-midt, Hammer & Lassen. In 1988 he gradu-ated as an industrial designer. Since 1989 Per Weiss has been the head of Innovation Design Office and responsible for concept, product design and marketing.

The Design Team Good aesthetic design must go hand in hand with great functionality and good comfort. Therefore, our team of designers, product developers and technical brains work together to integrate it all in every single Innovation product.

The Danish designer, Per Weiss, is head of the design department. He has been part of the company since 1989 and is the driving force behind the constant creative development of the collections. Inspired by a Scandinavian design tradition as well as fashion and lifestyle trends, he creates long-lasting design with a contemporary appeal.

HistoryIt all started up in 1971 with a good idea in the spirit of the flower power genera-tion - beanbags. The founder, Flemming Højfeldt, started a production of Delta beanbags – re-launched in 2006 as the Player beanbag. The small company grew quickly, and as flower power was taken over by the yuppie style, Innova-tion moved on to upholstery furniture as a sub-supplier to other companies.

At the end of the 80ies Innovation was ready for a new adventure. We wanted to produce our own design and launched a competition asking for fashionable and functional sofa bed concepts. The best idea was inspired by old eastern tradi-tions: Natural cotton based mattresses that were flexible enough for multifunc-tional furniture. One Room Living aka ORL Collection was born.

Innovation expanded with an associated company in the USA in 1991, followed up in 1998 with a Chinese office and factory.

With a greater larger production capaci-ty, more collections were made possible. Having production in both China and Denmark adds flexibility which gives us a unique opportunity to meet market de-mands. Mutual inspiration and exchange of experience, not at least internationally, assures a constant evolvement and front position of our company.

We want to offer furniture that makes a difference in everyday life. Good design that combines style, comfort and func-tionality. Innovation is not just a name, but what we do. Combining decades of experience in the furniture business with an eagerness to evolve and surprise. In this way we can offer attractive and useful furniture for modern people.

A Better Environment

Not only our design, but also our com-pany values have a clear vision for the future. Innovation has a certified environ-mental profile, and all recyclable waste, like cardboard, plastic, iron and metal, is separated and used in other productions. Residual, combustible waste is incinerat-ed in low-pollution plants. Packaging is reduced to the minimum needed for safe transportation.
