FROM THE DESK OF THE ADMINISTRATOR
I need to wish all mothers, grandmothers, godmoth-ers, and all women who give life, a very happy and blessed Mother’s Day! I hope this day gives life to you in return for all that you give to us. Enjoy the day! Congratulations to all our First Communicants, espe-cially today’s last group at SBP. Welcome to the Table! A reminder that we are still accepting inquiries for the ACCESS program for rides to our churches and parish events. Please contact Anna Trovato at ASP by calling 412-781-0530 to register. We do want to see you in church! Throughout my priesthood, I have teased that Chris-tian charity ends in the parking lot. Sadly we all know that there is more truth than tease in that statement. With the recent addition of lines at SNP, the lines every-where at SBP, some forthcoming sealing and lining at ASP, plus the current lines and spots at HSP, there is plenty of general direction. I do ask that in the in-line parking that you pull a bit closer to the car in front of you, so as to create more room behind you. Doing so helps more people find a spot. Know too that if you are in the middle of the “pack” you’re not going anywhere until the people around you do. If there are events after Mass, cars may not move when you want them to move. If you do need to exit, please be courteous to the other cars that are around you. Let us extend our Christian charity to the parking lots! Speaking of my priesthood, June 25th marks my Silver Anniversary. I can’t believe that 25 years have passed! While I have charge of four beautiful churches and have access to four wonderful halls, I have chosen to not play favorites for this event! Therefore, on June 30th, I will be presiding at a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Paul Cathedral Oakland beginning at 3:00 PM. The Mass is open to the public. Afterwards, a ticketed reception will take place at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The cost of a ticket is $50.00 per person. Those purchasing a ticket need not bring a gift, as your presence is the best gift. Tickets are available Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM and Saturday 9:30 AM until 11:30 PM at ASP. You must purchase your ticket by June 8th so that appropriate arrangements can be made with the venue and caterer. I hope you can join me.
See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz

I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD – The image of God as shepherd and his promise to lead his people in safety appears throughout the Bible. It is one of the most tender images of God that we can have as he assures us of his constant care and protection in our lives. This care applies not only to us individually as his children, with the shepherd carrying us in his arms, but also to us collectively as the Church, with
God leading his flock in safety. This repeated promise to shepherd his people is our guarantee that God is in charge of his Church and that he leads us no matter the circumstances. As we journey On Mission for The Church Alive! we may won-der where the Lord is leading us. While it is natural for us to resist change, it is also an opportunity for us to grow in trust of God, our shepherd and guide, that he may transform us and his Church. May we call upon our Good Shepherd to lead us and our parishes in the years ahead. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
DEVOTIONALS FOR THE FIFTY-DAY EASTER SEASON The Little White Books for Easter are available at the entrances of Holy Spirit and St. Nicholas. You are encour-aged to consider this spiritual book for the Easter Sea-son. A donation of $1.00 per book will help cover ex-penses. We also have the Easter 2019 edition of the Five Minutes with the Word booklets. These are free of charge.
Regina Caeli, Laetare. Alleluia! (An Easter Prayer for the Month of May) Rejoice, O Queen of heaven. Alleluia! Holy Mary, Mother of God, you lead the rejoic-ing of all the saved. You were chosen to be Christ’s mother. Alleluia! Holy Mary, Mother of God, help us remain faithful children of light. Christ has risen as he said. Alleluia! Holy Mary, Mother of God, let us follow your example. Pray for us to God. Alleluia! Holy Mary, Mother of God, with all the saints you intercede for us at the throne of grace. Rejoice and be glad: the Lord is truly risen. Alleluia! Holy Mary, Mother of God, may our joy bring us one day to join you and the hosts of heaven, singing praises in glory for all eternity.
