40 Years of Life

Living in God’s Love

The African Catholic Community

Women’s Guild

is inviting all members of the Parish to

the celebration of the 40th Birthday of

Fr. Lazarus Onuh.

Date: 11:03:2019

Time: 3:00pm prompt

Venue: Hampton Inn Pawtucket

2 George St., Pawtucket, R.I.

Come, let us celebrate our unity in Christ!!!

“May your actions never be unworthy of your words, may it

not happen that, when you preach in church, someone might

say to himself: ‘Why does he therefore not act like this?’.

How could a teacher, on a full stomach, discuss fasting; even

a thief can blame avarice; but in the priest of Christ the mind

and words must harmonize.”+ St. Jerome

Pray for your Priests!

Traveling Shrines

Our traveling shrine of the Holy Family

is missing. If you still have it at home please

return it to the rectory or place it on the table at

the entrance to the Lady Chapel, as it is being

requested by other families.

We also have the shrine of Our Lady

of Fatima. We will be restarting the sign up

sheets and if you’re interested in taking the

shrine home for the week please sign the sheet

with your telephone number. We request that

the shrine should be retuned on a Saturday in

time for 4:00 o’clock mass in case a parishioner

is signed up at that time to take it home. This is a great Prayer opportunity!

“Come down quickly,” Jesus

says, “for today I must stay at

your house.” If you had been

there, would you have be-

lieved it? No doubt there

were other disciples in the city

or, at the very least, kind, gen-

erous, and just people.

“Good” people. But those

aren’t the people Jesus

chooses to share a meal with.

THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME NOVEMBER 3, 2019

Serving those who Serve

The next National Collection for the Archdiocese for the

Military Services, USA (AMS), is scheduled for the weekend of 10

November 2019. The AMS receives no funding from the U.S. Government or the U.S. Military, has no parishes for a weekly in-

pew collection, and must rely principally on private donations to

fund an annual operating budget of over $8.2 million.

Established by St. John Paul II in 1985, the AMS is re-

sponsible for providing the full range of pastoral ministries availa-

ble in all other U.S. dioceses to those serving in the United States

Armed Services, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing

treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical

Centers, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond

U.S. borders, and for the families of these populations. In other

words, the AMS is responsible for the pastoral care of men, wom-en, and children from all U.S. dioceses, who hail from all 50 States

and U.S. Territories—including members of your own parish.

Please help continue to provide priests for the Church and

the military chaplaincy

and to minister to the

Catholic military men

and women, and their

families, who are part of

this global Archdiocese.

Fr. Emiel Kapuan, Servant of

God, Pray for us.

Teachings of Padre Pio for November

The celebration of Holy

Mass is extremely important for

the release of a soul from Purga-

tory.

“Do as I have done. Pray, pray always for the souls of

the dear departed. Even if your loved ones are in heaven, we

must always pray. If they no longer need prayers, they are ap-

plied to other souls.”

Immortal God, Holy Lord, Protector of all You have

created, we offer our prayers to You for those who have passed

from this life.

In Your loving mercy, be pleased to receive them into

Your heavenly company, and forgive them the faults and fail-

ings of their human frailty.

A Thank You is due to Mr. Mark

Russell of the Monahan Drabble and

Sherman Funeral Home for the beautiful

calendars for the upcoming year. The

Funeral Home has been donating our cal-

endars for about 10 years now. Mark and

his brother Bob also run McBride’s Pub in Wayland Square

November Nocturnal Adoration For the month of November there is a change in Nocturnal

Adoration. Adoration will begin with the 8:00 PM Mass on Friday

the 8th of November and close with Benediction and the 8:00 AM

Mass on Saturday the 9th of November.

Adoration is Prayer

Prayer is lifting our mind

and heart to God. It is conversa-

tion with Christ, by Whom we

know ourselves to be loved. Pray-

er is simply uniting ourselves to

Him Who is present to us. “He is

there”, the Cure of Ars used to say.

“He who loves us so much, why

should we not love Him?” “To

pray well, there is no need to talk a

lot,” the saint would explain.

“One knows that the Good Lord is

there in the Holy Tabernacle. One

opens one’s heart to Him, on re-

joices in His presence. This is the best prayer…” The same saint

asked one of his parishioners what he said to Jesus when he came

before Him in the Blessed Sacrament. The parishioner replied, “I

say nothing. He looks at me and I look at Him.”
