Mass Schedule at Holy Martyrs
Saturday
4:30 pm (in the church)
Sunday
9:30 am (in the church)
11:30 am (outside on the lawn)*
Weekday
Monday - Friday at noon (in the church)
Holy Martyrs has added an 11:30 am outdoor
(weather permitting) Mass to its schedule. We made
this decision, in part, to accommodate families with
young children who struggle with wearing masks.
We continue to encourage attendees to wear masks
but this will provide some flexibility for those with
small children.
This Mass will take place, at least initially, on the
grassy area between the church building and the
picnic pavilion. For ease of access, you should plan
to park in the back parking lot.
Please plan to bring your own lawn chair
to sit on during Mass.
*Important Note:
This Mass will be held weather-permitting !
If the weather is not conducive to sitting
outdoors, Mass will be moved inside to the
Worship Space.
If you are attending Mass in the Worship Space,
face masks MUST be worn. For more details,
please refer to the
SAFE PRACTICES WHEN COMING TO MASS
Located on our website at
https://www.holymartyrs.net
Mass will continue to be livestreamed each
Sunday at 9:30 AM and weekdays at 12:00 noon

I Can Do That
“And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow
every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for
food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,
and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”
Genesis 2:9
The paper we use to read and write on comes from
trees. We can save trees by becoming more
conscious of our use of paper and changing some
habits. Recycle paper but only after both sides have
been used. Use old envelopes and scraps of paper
for shopping lists or other reminders. Go paperless
with books, magazines, newspapers, and bills. If
you want to read a paper book, borrow it from the
library or purchase it, used, from a nearby source.
Request to be removed from catalog mail lists. Stop
the junk mail. Information on how to stop it can be
found online.
Trees speak to us as surely
as the written word.

CONNECT: Small group experience
Connect with others. Connect with Christ. Connect Christ with all the parts of your life. CONNECT Small Groups is a fantastic opportunity to
enjoy stimulating discussions with others interested in
growing in faith AND to learn about this amazing faith
we share as Catholics. We’d love to welcome YOU to this
experience, which so many in our parish have found to
be valuable and worthwhile. It is the goal of CONNECT
groups to enable you to Connect with others, Connect
with Christ, and Connect Christ with all parts of your life.
We invite you to join others who have said “yes” to
growing through CONNECT groups.
When people meet the real Jesus in Scripture, lives
change, hearts heal, and the grace and power of our
baptism is unleashed to truly change all that has become
so negative and contentious in our world today. Our
Christian faith is a faith of deep joy and peace and every
Catholic can access that peace and joy even in the midst
of societal conflict and discord
CONNECT small groups will be starting up again in
mid-September. The meetings will be held virtually;
not in person.
Watch for further information and registration
information in the coming weeks .

Transportation to School for Children
in Thailand
There are now 80,000
Akha and Lahu people
living in Thailand's
northern provinces on
the mountain slopes
bordering Myanmar.
These indigenous hill
tribes have fled civil
wars in Burma and Laos. They live in remote villages
made with natural materials. The nearest schools are
many miles away. The Fang Catholic Mission provides
transportation for 200 Akah and Lahu children to
attend school.
$20 helps pay for gas
and maintenance.

Holy Martyrs Prayer Shawl Ministry
Prayer Shawls are available for the asking for anyone who
might be experiencing difficulties of any kind and who
would find comfort in these shawls and/or lap robes. They
have been handmade with lots of prayers for comfort and
blessings for the receiver. The ladies have continued
making shawls during this stressful time and have them
readily available.
If you or anyone you know would benefit from
receiving a shawl, please call the Church Office
at 330-722-6633
The next meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is
Wednesday, August 26 at 1:00 PM in Room 103
Consider a Gift of Stock to
Support the Ministries of Holy Martyrs
In gratitude for all that God has given us, we, as
Christians, are called to give back to our community
and our church. In addition to the Sunday offertory, one
way of giving back might be transferring appreciated
stock to help Holy Martyrs continue its mission to lead
people to encounter Christ, grow in faith, and make
disciples. By transferring stock directly to our parish,
you may be able to avoid capital gains taxes.
For more information about what you need to do to
make such a gift, please contact
Therese McDonnell at 330-722-6633 or

Cinema and Conversation: A Hidden Life (In Person)
From visionary writer-director Terrence Malick comes this
story based on real events, about an unsung hero, Franz
Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World
War II. Although the Austrian farmer is faced with the
threat of execution for treason, his unwavering beliefs
and his love for his wife Fani and their three children
keep his spirit alive.
