May 31 (Wed): Depart USA for Israel.

June 1 (Thurs): Arrive in Tel Aviv. Board motorcoach for our first sights of Israel. Arrive and check-in at our Jerusalem hotel, followed by dinner and a good evening’s rest. D

JERUSALEM

June 2 (Fri): Travel to Ein Kerem, the birthplace of John the Baptist, and location of the Church of the Visitation, where Elizabeth greeted Mary. Drive on to Bethlehem. Visit the Church of St. Catherine’s, where the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem celebrates Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Visit the Church of the Nativity, the site of the cave where Christ was born and the manger in which he was laid. Visit the Grotto of St. Jerome, who lived in Bethlehem and translated the Scriptures into Latin (the Vulgate) and wrote many Scripture commentaries. BLD

June 3 (Sat): Visit the Davidson Center (an archaeological park for the Temple Mount), the Southern Steps of the Temple, and the Western Wall. Visit the Church of St. Anne’s and the Pool of Bethesda. Visit the Ecce Homo convent, built near where the Antonia Fortress once stood. Visit the Israeli Museum’s model of the Old City of Jerusalem as the city looked at the time of Jesus. BLD

June 4 (Sun): Travel to the site of Jacob’s Well, where Jesus spoke of his gift of living water with the Samaritan woman, and visit the beautiful Greek Orthodox church built over the ancient well. Continue north to Sebaste where once the Omri dynasty and King Ahab had his capital. Herod the Great later expanded and renovated the city, building a palace for himself, as well as a Roman temple, hippodrome and theater, and renamed the city in honor of Caesar. BLD

June 5 (Mon): Drive to the Mt of Olives and descend as Jesus did on his Palm Sunday entry into Jerusalem. Continue on to the Dominus Flevit Chapel, from where we can overlook the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. It is from this overlook that Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Proceed on to the Garden of Gethsemane and visit the cave of betrayal. Visit the Basilica of the Agony (also called the Church of All Nations), the location of the rock of Jesus’ agony. Visit St. Peter Gallicantu, (gallicantu is translated “the cock crows”), recalling St. Peter’s denial of Jesus, and see the place where Jesus was imprisoned and the steps he would have walked on the way to Gethsemane. Visit the Cenacle (the Upper Room) where Jesus celebrated the Last Supper. BLD

June 6 (Tues): Rise early to walk the Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrows, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where we can venerate the site of Calvary, where Jesus died on the Cross, and the Tomb, where Jesus was buried and rose from the dead. Return to our hotel for a late breakfast and then check-out of our Jerusalem hotel. Drive to the Jordan River, the traditional site of Jesus’ baptism. Travel north to Galilee and check-in to our Galilee hotel. BLD

GALILEE

June 7 (Wed): Travel to Capernaum, where Peter lived and which Jesus made his base of operations for his Galilean ministry. Visit Peter’s house and the synagogue where Jesus healed and taught. Enjoy an extended boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. From the sea, view the nearby Church of St. Peter’s Primacy. Visit the unearthed ancient fishing boat at Kibbutz Nof Ginosar, which was dated back to the time of Christ. Visit Taghba, the location of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. June 8 (Thurs): Travel to Mt Tabor, the site of the Transfiguration. Travel to Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth. Visit the Church of the Annunciation and the Church of St Joseph. Proceed to Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle. Here couples may renew their wedding vows in the place where Jesus changed water into wine at the wedding in Cana. BLD

June 9 (Fri): Check-out of our Galilee hotel. Visit the Mt of Beatitudes where Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mount. Travel along the beautiful Via Maris toward Caesarea, and visit Caesarea Maritime where St. Paul was imprisoned, tried, and sent from this Mediterranean harbor to Rome. Visit the ruins of Herod the Great’s seaside palace, as well as the ancient hippodrome and theater along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant before heading to the airport for our return flight. BLD

June 10 (Sat): Arrive back in the USA.
