Holy Family Parish June 30th, 2019 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time From the Office of the Archbishop: Archdiocesan Camps Renewal Project: Update 1 Planning for the redevelopment of Camp Encounter and Our Lady of Victory Camp is under way, and first steps have been taken toward site preparation at Camp Encounter. The Archbishop has appointed a com- mittee to oversee this work, with Lucy Kaakyo of the Office of Lay Apostolate serving as Chair. Committee members see their service as an exciting opportunity to grow our camping ministry in a sustainable way that will continue to build community and support the Churchs evangelizing mission, particularly with our precious young people and their families. Moving Structures As we reviewed the facilities at the camps, we determined that some structures will need to be replaced. At the same time, we learned that our sisters and brothers at Lac Ste Anne are in dire need of improved facili- ties for the pilgrimage site. Lac Ste Anne is the venue for two major gatherings each summer: the Catholic Family Life Conference on the Canada Day long weekend, and the Lac Ste Anne Pilgrimage later in July. Since we will be redeveloping the Camp Encounter site, and since buildings deteriorate more quickly when not in use, it was decided to move three mobile structures from Camp Encounter to Lac Ste Anne. These are the kitchen/mess hall and two trailers that had been used for staff accommodations. We expect the move to take place in the coming days, depending on various logistics. Our friends at Lac Ste Anne are delighted to be receiving these units, which will replace some structures that were so serious- ly dilapidated that they could no longer be used. For your information, plans are also being made to im- prove the pilgrimage site in the long term. If you have questions or comments specifically about the moving of units from Camp Encounter, please contact Andrew Papenbrock, Facilities Coordinator, at 780-469-1010 ext. 2147 or [email protected] Camping Options this Summer Some parents have asked about other camps that might be suitable for their children this summer. While the Archdiocese cannot promote any individual camp, we encourage parents to consider those that are ac- credited by the Alberta Camping Association. Accreditation means that a camp has demonstrated a high level of standards and follows strict protocols to make sure that children get the best experience in the saf- est environment. These standards are related to things like site, facility, administration, leadership, health, food service, and programming. (Both our camps had this accreditation while they were operating.) Safe environment programs vary from camp to camp. It is important that parents inquire with any camp that they are considering about the safe environments standards for that camp. For more information, including a directory of camps and advice on how to choose one, visit the ACA web- site at albertacamping.com. If youre looking for a faith-filled experience for the whole family, consider attending the Catholic Family Life Conference, which runs June 28—July 1. Hear some inspirational speakers, and connect with friends or make new ones. Some space is available on the site for recreational vehicles. For details and registration information, visit catholicfamilyministires.com.

Triumph: Freedom Through Healing, facilitated by Donna and Jerry Kristian 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3—2:00 pm, Thursday, July 11. Live in 9 day retreat all meals included, Cost: $1395. Tri-umph is a facilitated nine-day program designed to bring healing and spiritual growth to the wounded places of our being. We invite you to come and encounter God on this gentle, powerful and life changing journey of inner healing and transformation...a journey leading more deeply into a fulfilled, peaceful, Christ-centered life filled with joy. Still Green and Growing: Spirituality for Our Wisdom Years, facilitated by Archbishop Emeritus Sylvain Lavoie. 7:00 pm, Friday July 5-July 6th 4:00 pm. Live in $150, commute $100 (includes lunch). We all face three challenges in life: how to live life to the full, how to age graciously, and how to die well. The last two chal-lenges are becoming more urgent, as we are living longer lives but lack a spirituality for our wisdom years. This retreat will focus on personal growth, inner healing and human development from the perspective of the second half of our lives.

Music Ministry at Masses in July and August—Leaders of Song needed from the congregation!

Music at the weekend Masses in July and August will be the same as at weekday Masses in our parish—a Leader of Song to start off a well-known hymn at the beginning/Entrance, and another hymn at the end/Recessional. No parts of the Mass nor the Responsorial psalm to be sung. If an Adult Server asks before Mass for someone to choose the hymns and start them off, please be generous and volunteer to do so. The congregation will join in after a word or two as long as the songs are well known. Thank you!

Thank You! Many thanks to all our volunteers. May God Bless you! It is through people like you that Jesus shows His love for us. You are God’s grateful blessings. Thanks for all you have done. Thank God for you! Wishing you all a safe and blessed summer, Father Jozef and Parish staff

Office Summer Hours:

The office will be open from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm (noon). Starting July 2 until September 3. Enjoy this summer with your families!

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

From the Office of the Archbishop: Archdiocesan Camps Renewal Project: Update 1

Planning for the redevelopment of Camp Encounter and Our Lady of Victory Camp is under way, and first steps have been taken toward site preparation at Camp Encounter. The Archbishop has appointed a com-mittee to oversee this work, with Lucy Kaakyo of the Office of Lay Apostolate serving as Chair. Committee members see their service as an exciting opportunity to grow our camping ministry in a sustainable way that will continue to build community and support the Church’s evangelizing mission, particularly with our precious young people and their families. Moving Structures As we reviewed the facilities at the camps, we determined that some structures will need to be replaced. At the same time, we learned that our sisters and brothers at Lac Ste Anne are in dire need of improved facili-ties for the pilgrimage site. Our friends at Lac Ste Anne are delighted to be receiving these units, which will replace some structures that were so serious-ly dilapidated that they could no longer be used. For your information, plans are also being made to im-prove the pilgrimage site in the long term. While the Archdiocese cannot promote any individual camp, we encourage parents to consider those that are ac-credited by the Alberta Camping Association. Accreditation means that a camp has demonstrated a high level of standards and follows strict protocols to make sure that children get the best experience in the saf-est environment. These standards are related to things like site, facility, administration, leadership, health, food service, and programming. (Both our camps had this accreditation while they were operating.) Safe environment programs vary from camp to camp. It is important that parents inquire with any camp that they are considering about the safe environments standards for that camp. For more information, including a directory of camps and advice on how to choose one, visit the ACA web-site at albertacamping.com. If you’re looking for a faith-filled experience for the whole family, consider attending the Catholic Family Life Conference, which runs June 28—July 1. Hear some inspirational speakers, and connect with friends or make new ones. Some space is available on the site for recreational vehicles.
