41Every year his parents used to go to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover.42 When he was twelve years old, they went up for the feast as usual. 43 Whenthe days of the feast were over and they set off home, the boy Jesus stayedbehind in Jerusalem without his parents knowing it. 44 They assumed he was

somewhere in the party, and it was only after a day's journey that they went tolook for him among their relations and acquaintances.

It is necessary to know how to look for and to make an effort to get whatis wanted. In our search, sometimes Jesus disappears, we lose sight ofhim. He is not always where we think that he is or where we want him tobe.. But he never gets lost. He always appears. He always allows to be.

45 When they failed to find him they went back to Jerusalem looking for himeverywhere. 46 It happened that, three days later, they found him in the Temple,sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions; 47 and allthose who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. 48 Theywere overcome when they saw him, and his mother said to him, 'My child, why

have you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking foryou.'

Jesus' family, like any family, isn't free of worries and anxiety. Mary asks. Sheopens a serene dialogue, without accusations. She knows how to interrogate, tolisten and to welcome the incomprehensible answers. Inside the familiar reality isthe respect to the originality and performance of every person. I hope so that in

our familiar and social relations we can listen and ask, to listen and wonderourselves.

49 He replied, 'Why were youlooking for me? Did you not knowthat I must be in my Father'shouse?'

They didn't know it, they were learning. One becomes a mother and fatherprogressively, during the whole life. 50 But they did not understand what he meant.

As all the children, Jesus is moving away from home. Mary and Josph, like somany parents and mothers, feel that the children aren't theirs, that they belongto God, to the world, to their mission, to their loves, to their dreams... Theydidn't have everything clear from the beginning. Also they had to believe inJesus. The faith is a process, with stages that can be dark and painful. As we,they will find Jesus through the persons, the search, the happiness, thesurprise, the worries, the astonishment, the doubt...

51 He went down with them then and came to Nazareth and lived under

their authority

Jesus leaves the temple and the doctors and goes away to his home with Maryand Joseph, teachers of life. They help him to grow giving him protection,affective safety, dignity, confidence, love.... Jesus chooses the way of growing

of all the human beings by means of the dialogue and the things made by all, alsoby means of incomprehensions and reciprocal obediences.

Mary keeps the God's Word, the word that doesn't understand, the unexpectedanswer, the facts that surprise her. Everything preserves it in the heart ponderingit, preserving it, protecting it... That may we learn of her the art of thinking, of

pondering, the art of the depth.The Holy Scritures remember the heart approximately 913 times.

In the heart it is where it is discerned, understood, loves truly, the life is chosen,

it is a place of return.The whole life is a pilgrimage towards the place of the heart (O.Clment).

52 And Jesus increased in wisdom, in stature, and in favour with God andwith people.

The life grows, advances with the miracle of the love that doesn't give up andfights to do the most habitable and happier earth.The art of living consists in being able to receive with admiration the daily thing, indoing always the things as if it was the first time, in turning the ordinary thing in

extraordinary. Our life will be growing and transforming, if we fill with light,generosity and tenderness the realities that come to meet us every day. As Jesus.
